@Equinox: ahhh i see! there's this fabric that can be unbuckled that covers the handbrake's mechanism. I unbuckled it and saw the adjustable tightening nut and a few electrical cables. I suppose i actually have to take the whole center console's cover off in order to fix it? Thanks Equinox! Btw I'm Francis

being that the car is 11yrs old now you may just have to lube the cable that runs under the car, it may be rusted up inside the case. it's basically a twisted steel cable inside a spirally wound steel casing that is then coated with a plastic and the 2 wires like to rust together. try some pb blaster or w/e equivalent rust penetrator you can get and spray it into the end of the casing and work the handle until it moves.
