Default Crankshaft sensor/limp mode

Have a 2011 base model, took it last night for a few skids, decided to go in limp mode. Unplugged the battery to reset ecu and let it sit over night, get in, still in limp mode with the 6-10ish seconds to start still going on. Threw the code for the crankshaft sensor, so I get under the car and look at mine, it’s obliterated and just hanging out of the hole. I go buy another one and replace it, reset ecu again and car is spitting and sputtering and missing with no codes, take it back out and it’s fine but still in limp mode. I’ve searched the internet and forums all morning and no answers. Any help?

Possibly a short in the wire lead to the sensor? Maybe a messed up wheel sensor? Sounds like you were probably a bit too hard on it....

I traced back as far as i could on the wires coming from it and it all looked pretty good, literally only got to go for maybe 2 minutes if that before it happened. I haven't looked at the wheel ones though

How did you trace the wiring? A visual check is all but worthless; use a VOM.

You may want to download the FSM (link in my sig). Lots of trouble-shooting info in there.

This sounds like my issue PLUS the brakes being activated without my foot on the brake pedal...

I'll find a VOM today, its in such a tight spot that anything down there becomes a challenge.

Also remembered my power steering doesnt exactly work as well

Well update, had it looked at by a mechanic and apparently the sensor destroyed my flywheel and bent up most of the teeth. -____-
