Replacing Nissan Spark Plugs?

What time and mileage interval do you replace your Nissan OEM spark plugs? What are the best brand spark plugs to use on the 370z? If you know what is the correct ft lbs. of torque on the spark plugs for these 370z's?

1) As per the service maintenance guide, replace every 60k miles for NISMO, and every 105k for non-NISMO.

2) OEM is DENSO FXE24HR11. I don't think there is a "best brand".

3) No idea, service manual doesn't specify.

It _should_ be in the FSM. IIRC, it will be in a square/rectangle near the part in the diagrams. But I haven't looked at the FSM in a while, so I could be wrong.

Many PDF readers will search all the documents in a folder. Put all the FSM PDFs in a folder and have your reader search that folder for "spark plug +torque"

Thanks I spoke with a Nissan Technician regarding spark plug replacement. I will be replacing my Denso spark plugs every 60k miles or 4 years whatever comes first.

I only have 42k on my car and it still hasnt been changed and its a 2011. Is there a yearly time change interval as well? or just based on mileage?

Has anyone ever used the Autolite Spark Plugs Part Number: XP5682. That seems like the most lease expensive option when looking at replacement spark plugs at a location Autozone

That sounds good,as you don’t want to chance the plugs seizing in the head.
I did the Denso’s spoke above @50k, along with a serpentine belt & bypassed the coolant lines that flow through the throttle body’s.
I really wanted to get the NGK Laser Iridium,,,but as was performing numerous things at once-just got the Denso’s.
I did get a set & swapped them out @85k....and as the upper plenum was off; that’s when I noticed a touch of oil in it,,,so catch can’s got on the list....but I didn’t get a chance to install any.
Btw, Denso’s ran about 14$ each & the NGK’s were 20....didn’t notice any difference between the 2, much easier install 2nd go round.

The FSM lists the torque as 14 ft-lbs (or 168 in-lbs) ... that's provided you don't lubricate the threads with anti-seize. If you choose to lubricate the threads, the instructions for the Denso plugs indicate that you should reduce the torque by approximately one-third (... otherwise you could stress the plug or damage the threads by over-torquing). An alternative to torquing (according to the Denso instructions), is to finger-tighten the plug and then tighten it between 1/4 to 1/2 turn. I chose to lubricate the plugs and torqued them to approx. 115-120 in-lbs ... which turned out to be between 1/4 and 1/2 turn after finger-tightening.

I googled the question and found this:

The average cost for a Nissan 370Z spark plug replacement is between $283 and $428. Labor costs are estimated between $246 and $311 while parts are priced between $37 and $117. Estimate does not include taxes and fees.

Sounds high for just spark plugs. But then that's why I avoid dealerships when I can.

if you want to have to change them again the next day use the autolite

NGK or Denso are the only 2 brands that you should have installed.

The installation cost is high because the throttle bodies have to be removed to get to the rear most plugs.

I change my plugs once a year.More often than needed.Higher price is labor.I have been buying plugs for $28.00 a piece.Seems like crazy price.Changing plugs in Z is more involved than most cars.I think most people can change themselves and save money.

Yup, it is in the FSM with different US and non US schedules having different values which makes very little sense. Its the same engine.

US its 105K, rest of world 60K in the FSM I am looking at. Odd since the OCI for US is flipped, more aggressive then rest of world and the specs are different for same engine

I did it at 6x K and 7 years of use, they are not that expensive if you shop around (few online nissan shops sell the OEM plugs pretty reasonable). If you had a high mile/year car I'd have no issue running the plugs longer but leaving a plug in for 10+ years to me is low risk/reward situation to swap it out at say a 5y interval.

I would use OEM style plugs, not el cheapo iridiums. You can get the OEM plugs pretty reasonably if you shop around/mailorder. IIRC I found a CA Nissan dealer selling off stock when I got them, just waited a week for shipping.

The job took 2h or so going slowly, moving the coils and other parts takes up most of the labor time, including pulling the trim and STB: the plastic trim had not been removed probably in 7 years so bit of a pucker factor pulling on it quite hard to separate: didn't want it breaking.
