Default Dealer won't fix the problems?

So I recently bought this car, it was used at 76k miles, no major problems as of now, but pulled the fuse for the steering wheel lock as a precaution, but I also have the trunk hatch not opening problem, I saw that there was a tsb for that fix, I called to dealership to schedule a fix, they asked for my vin number to check recalls for my car specifically, but says there was nothing, not even the steering wheel lock replacement, my car is the 09... What should I do?

As for the steering wheel lock? Your vin should be covered.

You can look at the noted tsb from the thread below as it was posted by a former Nissan sponsor, But honestly IF you've already disabled it?

No need to go any further unless you actually need one to work for it to only fail in the future.

*Voluntary Service Campaign ** Steering Lock Fix**

Secondly the hatch issue for the most part is resolved by replacing the current springs with the longer ones noted in the hatch issue thread.

!!For 370Z Owners with the Stuck Hatch Release Issue!!

TSB: 2009 nissan 370z coupe; rear hatch will not open on first push of release button

Your warranty is with Nissan, not the dealer. Go to another dealer.

Very possible. I just assumed a Nissan (extended) warranty when TSBs and recalls were mentioned.

i bought the car from a used car dealership, They don't provide a warranty, the car has 76k miles, but I contacted a Nissan dealership that was near my house about the tsb, and they said my vin didn't have any recalls. But it had the trunk release issue

I assumed these recalls and tsb's were free (you don't have to be under warranty?)

I guess I'll be the resident dickhead. You bought a 7 year old car with 76k mules on it, you might have to code out of pocket to repair some of the **** the previous owner was to lazy to take car of.manufacturers don't give free rides forever.

TSB is simply just that, a Technical Service Bulletin; it provides information to a specific issue and ways to repair or alleviate the issue and unfortunately it doesn't have to provide the fix for free. Recall is another story, the vehicles affected do not need to be still under factory warranty to be recalled and fixed for free.

That said, like others said, I would check with another dealer. Also, you can check NHTSA website and see if there was any pending recall (not TSB) for your car.

When my hatch springs had to be replaced last year, the dealer wanted about $200 to fix it. When I mentioned that I had an extended warranty, they replaced it for free.

Okay... I wasn't expecting a free ride or anything. I only assume a tsb was a recall, and might as well do Any recalls that hasn't been done before (to minimize costs... Why pay if there is a recall) if not then I'd be paying for maintence, other than the hatch, the cars a clean car.

Thanks guys, was basically confused whether or not tsb's were recalls.

My TSB were both fixed well after warranty...
I would go to another dealer and see if they can do anything. If not, you already pulled the fuse, and the hatch release is a joke, cause the fix didn't fix anything.

tsb's are not the same as recalls. recalls are done when there is possible danger to the driver/passenger or other cars around them... or a major catastrophic failure to a car from operating.

TSB is just a fix if the owner/leaser of the car brings up an issue, there is a known fix for it.

btw, dat hatch not opening on the first try is easy to fix using 4~6 pennies.. search pennies.
