My Baby is on a Flatbed Headed to the Dealership (Clutch)
Took the wife out to dinner, came back out, pushed in the clutch, pedal stayed stuck on the floor. No amount of pedal pumping was making any kind of difference. Could not put the car in any gear. Car was stuck. Appears to be a complete failure of the CSC (just my guess).
Tow truck came and hauled it off to the stealership. We'll see what they say tomorrow (hopefully). At least it was a nice flatbed and the guys loaded it without scraping anything. Insurance fully covered the tow. Hopefully the warranty will cover the repairs. (22,000 miles and it's a 2012 so I'm still under warranty by a few months) The good news is that it's safely in the dealership parking lot awaiting the mother of all hail storms tonight. How awesome. Gotta laugh or I'll cry. :-) |
had this happen to me when i was driving on the free going 70. its a scary thing when the csc fails.
|
Good news is that we did not get any hail in our area. Now to see what Nissan says.
|
Is there a way to prevent CSC failure?
keep us updated. |

Got a call from the service guy, Nissan says to give the system a full flushing, and let it sit overnight. They will drive it in the morning to see if that resolves the issue. If not, then they investigate further. All covered by warranty, at least.
|
Fresh fluid is a bandaid at best. You will be inconvenienced by another tow in the near future, I can almost guarantee.
|
:iagree: read too many times same thing happening after fluid only swap.
|
Let me guess...fill it up with GT-R fluid? I swear, I ******* hate Nissan.
|
I agree it's not a real solution but I'm done fighting with dealerships. It is what it is. I got more important things to worry about.
At least the service guy is allowing some time to pass to see if there is still an issue before giving me back the car. I told him keep it as long as he needs to, I just want it fixed right. We'll see what happens. |
Like Jar and Kenchan have mentioned, refilling the new fluid may bring your clutch pressure back and it will seem fine for some time, could be weeks or a few months, but you can expect the same thing happening again. A permanent fix would be to replace both the csc and master cylinder, costs about $1000 in parts and labor.

It's after 1 and no word yet from the dealership. I'm guessing el flush-a-rooney didn't work.
Even if they replace the slave cylinder, that's not really going to solve the problem, is it? |

Just heard back... They are replacing the slave cylinder.

I don't know about lucky though. I'm pretty sure he's still within the 3yr/36K mile warranty. Lucky would be if they covered it under the 5yr/60K mile powertrain warranty. |
lucky would be not having any problems to begin with.. :ugh:

I had same issue with my 2013 Nismo. I'm tracking mine maybe 7-8 times a year. First stuck clutch pedal happend fortunately on a cool down lap at MSR Houston. The track shop flushed my system with Motul 600. Everything worked done for rest of track events, but pedal stuck at home about a week later in city traffic. Fortunately. I have a great dealership. They know I am tracking the car. When they checked it out, the CSC had failed (it has plastic parts near high heat sources). Transmission also had metal shavings in it. They replaced my transmission under warranty, and at no charge, put on my aftermarket Z1 performance CSC, South Bend Stage 2 clutch and lightweight fly wheel. Have had two track events (COTA and TWS) with no issues. They even do my pre-race tech inspections at no charge as well. But too bad Nissan doesn't redesign the CSC to a more robust one.

I am buddist empty inside..:ugh: |
I'd consider that as lucky IMO. It's uncommon that the stealership would offer to replace the csc on first visit. As we have seen in the past, the they usually just fill it up with new fluid and send him on his way until it fails again then he's sol because the 3 yr warranty had ran out:rolleyes:
|
Heard back from the dealer. I asked him how replacing the damaged CSC with the same model CSC would solve the problem. He said Nissan is replacing it with an updated part and it's not the same one I have on the car. It's taking a few days for it to get here.
Has anyone else heard of this? |

Yup. Call his a$$ out on that :bs:
Same fuckin part... |

maybe he was looking at the production lot code and not the revision number. lol
|
Soooooo... New CSC goes in, didn't fix the problem. Hmmm...
Replace with 2016 GTR? |
:ugh: tell them to cover your aftermarket csc replace, that should fix it.
|
I'm sure they're not going to pay for an aftermarket part.
|
Well if they put in a 3rd oem csc and still does not work then what. Lemon it?

Really annoying that Nissan cannot just ******* make this right. This is one of a few repeated problems with the car that are just, well, dumb. Good luck getting your car fixed and working again. |
On the bright side, I get to keep driving my loaner car... A Versa!!!
Wow what a piece of crap. |

So apparently the new CSC is fine, they just needed to bleed it again. They did that yesterday and they want to keep it another day and make sure it stays fixed.
