Exclamation Plastic hinge

Hello everyone,

I have recently bought a 2010 roadster, and I was carrying some window blinds in the passenger seat. However, little did I know... the blind hit or pushed into this plastic hinge when I was putting down the top. I hear a crack or pop and found out that it cracked and, broke a piece of the plastic that hold the metal L. Due to this, it is lose and, I notice that it would not go down after the top has been open.

I don't believe it effects the overall function of the convertible. However, it is not a nice feeling to have and the fact that, it is not snug tight is a bit perturbing.

I took a picture to show what I am talking about.
I am now, trying to find a OEM replacement.

Does anyone know the part number or, where online I can find one?
[Edited] Ok, I found this site but, I am still having a hard time locating the part.

Not as much traffic in this section of the site - due to smaller number of roadsters.

I would try calling the parts guy at the dealer and they should look it up for you. I've had great experience with both Nissan and Infiniti for my parts.

Hello ParkStr8,

that is unfortunate but, then again... it is quiet alright!

I, was able to find the part and thought I share.

79920-1ET0A
Lid trim back RH (LH for Left/driver side).

In case if anyone needs it as well!

Doh~ apparently the part is its own. However, must be purchased as a whole (799001et0a), and the price will be roughly 175 from the dealer!

Great... that little hinge piece that flaps. Anyone know of any junked 370Z for this part? I rather not pay for a whole trim assembly just for this little hinge. If so, I am going to see what I can do to self-repair... *sigh*

As tonight, I tried to repair it, I accidently lost a small screw that connects what seems to be a wire to the plastic hinge cover..
I decided to order the trim: 799001ET0A, and try to install it myself.

Anyone know how to disassemble and replace?

Thanks!

Ok, long story short.

I took it to the dealer to see if this would be covered under warrenty.
They did diagnostics to the soft top, etc... and then end up telling me that it isn't and the cover is not required. They said, it would not affect the soft top's function. Though I agree, I dislike the fact that, this was all they could give me. I can see it is there for a reason, and that is to protect the wires/mechanical parts when the top is down.

It could prevent dusts, debris, etc.. to get in when driving.

So, now I can either purchase the part and replace the whole trim myself, or find a DIY method.

Any ideas?

I would find a local reputable top company and take the part to them and have them install. or simply pay the dealer to install it.

I always err on the side of caution tho. These things are beyond my ability/experience to fix.

79902-1ET2A cover bracket. Does it come with the spring and L bar? Mine is also broken.
