Touring/sport or base?

Hi all, just test drove the touring convertible (only manual convertible they had on the lot) and I am probably going to buy one. They are doing a deal on the 2010s, about 500 under invoice before haggling, but they are going to have to do a lot better than that or I will just wait for a 2011 and only pay 500 more.


Question: is it worth getting the touring and sport packages? Honestly, I have no interest at all in the touring package, so it is basically an expensive sport package with a bunch of junk I rather it not have in the first place (heated seats in CA rofl). Does the diff and brakes make that big a difference? Rev matching is interesting but I race an 88 bmw that doesn't even have syncros anymore so I don't really care about it, I don't like large rims, and the spoilers are not really my thing either, so the diff and brakes are really the only bonuses on the expensive combined package.


Also, is there any way to change the way the clutch engages? I hate it, but love everything else about the car (well maybe not the trunk either lol). I have a race clutch in my track car and ran modified lines and stuff in my old Evo that helped, is there anything similar that can be done here?

Hey! I had some similar debates before getting my ZR.

First, let me say that I live in SoCal and I love heated seats...I wouldn't get a roadster without them. When I get a convertible, I want to have the top down as much as possible. Heated seats mean that only rain will force the top up...even when it gets down in the forties (which is freezing by CA standards), the car is totally comfortable. The heated/cooled seats in the ZR work really well, too.

So Touring/Sport vs. Base - you can probably still get a base 2010 ZR for about $31k (try Fontana Nissan, they were blowing out their '10's at that price), or pay ~$38k for a Touring/Sport. The car is very capable in Base form, so everything else is just about comfort/luxury/aesthetics with incremental performance improvements. If you don't care about things like leather, intelligent key, 19" wheels, etc., just take the $7k difference between Base and Touring/Sport and hand-select some aftermarket upgrades. You can do some pretty sick stuff to your car for way less than $7k...

Sorry, no input on the clutch - I actually liked the clutch on the manual cars I drove.

Gotta tell ya, I like the cooling feature on the seats as much as the heat.

My wife and I both had our own "must have" lists.

Hers- leather, heated/cooled seats, black cherry
Mine- LSD, brakes, wheels(I really like the sport wheels)
Ours- Nav

So you can see where we ened up. There weren't many boxes left unchecked.

I have a Z32TT that is my project car with lots of mods. I wanted the roadster to be close to where I wanted it from the beginning. I have a few plans for the ZR but nothing major (yet).

I think that the rear spoiler completely changes the way that rear looks.

The base seats dont look too appealing when topless
For me Got to have touring because of those cooling heating seats and the other items such as garage openner auto dimming etc
If you have 6 mt then sport wouldnt hurt I've heard the sync rev is to die for
Otherwise touring works for me

The sync rev is nice feature but overrated.
