my black 2012 roadster has swirl marks on the trunk and hood and after the dealer buffed it out twice it still looks like crap. it looks like they never did the clear coat at the factory. i have a 2008 saturan astra xr (black) and its paint looks better than my brand new z,s!

After I told Nissan something is not right with the paint on my 2011 Roadster! My Nissan rep is telling me they have had no issues with paint on the 370Z!........And Not To Believe anything I read on any web site that is not a Nissan web site!......:shakes head:.......They said they will send someone to look at my paint but don't seem to know when!.......WTF!

nick, tell them its "fallout" its when the gun spits. they painted my car full body off!! like 10 thousand it cost them!!! few pics for you! then when they were all done they had a flatbed bring it to my house for me! Nissan Canada did everything they could to fix my issue with the paint!! also they payed me cash for loss of value!

oh! one more thing!! the shop that painted it were so good to me that i asked if they could paint out the bumper centers black and add more silver flaketo the clear and they did at no cost to me!!

Seems Nissan of each region and or country is handling the situation differently. Some nicer than others. Some would rather not even help.

So I have this problem with mine:

And this:

It only seems to show up during the winter after a wash (took these last winter). It's definitely below the clear coat.

I'm also seeing some bubbling and some waving (I'm not sure how to describe this). Has anyone seen anything like this?

Looks like hard water spots to me. It happens when a sprinkler gets your car wet, the sun comes out and burns nice little spots in your paint

Would they appear under the clear coat? And only for one panel and not the next (like in the pic)?

They don't polish out. I tried to polish them out on a small section of the car. They didn't go out until I went through the clear coat and burned the paint (had to have that part re-painted).

It's just water stains. Do you wash your car and not towel dry it?

try meguiars scratch remover and/or clay bar. should take that out.

They are under the clear. This is after claying the whole car and using WolfGang Swirl Remover.

The One time I tried to remove them in the hatch, I used a PC and was able to remove them after about 5 minutes on 1 spot. Needless to say, I went through the clear and that's why they went out. Had to have it repainted.

The guy at the shop said it was probably moisture between the paint and clear.

I wash and wax the car regularly.

If your run your fingernail across them can you feel any pitting?

Sounds like those spots are under the clear, meaning under warranty there should be something Nissan can do for you. Factory defects like those should be covered by the dealer you purchased from, but i would research their history of body and paintwork first. The polish you use is one of the polishes in my arsenal, did you inspect the paint before purchasing? I ordered mine and made sure no one touched her.

I bought it second hand. But since the spots only appear in the winter, I could not have noticed.

pretty poor quality control for problems in the paint to appear like this . . .

Same problem with circular spots on hood. Using a clay bar took care of most of it, leaving only a hint of the spot. Good wax on top of it, and only I know it's there.

Try using some compound. I bet it removes all of it that you wont even notice it!
