Demand that they pull it into their bay's where there is sufficient lighting. Don't compromise. Slight imperfections will be much harder to see in normal sunlight. Even though the car won't be where it was painted, their own service area should have sufficient lighting to look it over. If it doesn't then tell them you want to inspect it closer before accepting it... or better yet, ask to see it while its still at the paint shop.

well, I am still waiting on the car....
they pulled it outside while one piece was being painted. The bondo dust-whatever dust blew all into the inside ofthe car since the top was down.

Wow, pretty unbelievable that they didn't cover up the interior, I'd be livid. Have you called Nissan Corporate yet? If you need a direct contact, send me a PM.

When I had the Kaminari wing painted and installed on my Z32TT, I stopped by the shop to see how things were going. The hood was propped open and all the shop dust was in my engine bay. It was like WTF, why do you have the hood open? Needless to say, it took two weekends to get it back where it was before.

Still got my fingers crossed for you!

I've seen it 3 times now on brand new stock units, seems to becoming a more and more common thing.

Yep, back when I was getting my paint issue resolved, we saw the same thing (but not as bad) on all of the 370's on the lot. They even said they saw the problem on a few Cube's. In all those cases though there were probably only 1-4 spots on each panel (metal only), versus mine which had them all over each panel (metal only still).

There must just be some "bad batches" out there, because there are many people on the forum that say theirs do not have any sort of clear coat issues, other than the normal () orange peel.

well-still waiting on the car....
I talked to an exec at Nissan this morning. The bondo dust INSIDE my car was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
He wants me to pick up the car and call him immediately. he said since the spots are of unknown origin and we do not know when it happened....they cannot replace the car for me(i suggested they sell this one as a demo and give me a new one at this point). My attorney friend I have here in town said when you sign the contract from Nissan, you agree to their arbitration method, etc.
So-all i can do at this point is inspect the car when it is cleaned up-call this exec back and go from there. I see both sides of the story-just thing they should throw this dog a bone! LOL at least i still have a sense of humor....

The finish on my 2009 Black Z looks great. But, I baby the crap out of it. Its never taken in until I either wash it and follow with Megquires Ultimate Detailer or just use the detailer everytime bringing the car in and put under cover. At times i see a swirl and just use a cleaner/wax, then Megquires Quik Wax and then the Ultimate Detailer. Use the best cloths . After 2 years now these don't bother me as if it were new Z anyway but i fully understand.

Default Welcome to the family!

It is too bad, but I am afraid the paint problem is an old one, and Nissan could not care to do anything about it. I have a 2005 convertible 350Z, with 34 K, . It is in the garage at night, and I take excellent care of it. While it was still under guarantee, I started seeing the same problems you describe. I took it to the dealer and they could not care less. I finally gave up. The paint on the Z is the softest paint I have ever seen in my life. I was hoping that Nissan would have cared to fix this by now, as I was hoping to get a 370, but it looks I will need to get my heart on a different maker (as much as I love the Z, I think it is not right to put such cheap type of painting on a $45 K car)

Wow! What a process you went thru! Glad to hear it all turned out in the end. I am very jealous of your thick frosting....

That is just freakin' cool! I am really glad that everything worked out for you! What dryer are you using? I have been thinking of getting one since last summer. Trying to keep up with two cars, I spend twice as much time drying as I do washing!

I got the Metro Vac from Adam's. It is a blower or you can reverse it and use it as a vaccuum. I tend to blow with it since I have a bigger shop vac for the carpets.
some people use an electric leaf blower-no gas ones. Make sure the ground is wet around your car before you blow-ha ha
detail school was fun-I was the only girl . I also was the only one with cahones to do the wet sanding. Junkman wet sanded a Viper last weekend that I witnessed-he must have huge ones!!!
