Sorry to hear about all the frustration! I'd put my money on option 2--my button will do nothing, not even a beep, if the trunk (boot) is open. I wonder

I'd put my money on option 2--my button will do nothing, not even a beep, if the trunk (boot) is open. I wonder if that sensor (or the associated wiring) is bad. Have you tried actuating the tonneau cover lock solenoid by applying voltage directly to it? That would at least tell you if the device is working. |

So I have ordered a VAG K+ CAM adapter and NDS3 software which will be able to read all the Nissan codes and translate them to human readable - will use that to determine which part of the roof is in error state and preventing the roof mechanism from operating.
This adapter/software is a really good tip as it's < $100 and will do everything that a factory OBD2 reader will do, but for a fraction of the cost (assuming you have a laptop spare to run it on) |

If you have access to a snap-on obd2 code reader - it will give you the codes. I would check the wiring going from the pump to the 5th bow lock (rear compartment lid). This is the hose/wiring that attaches to the driver's side hinge on the rear compartment lid. It undergoes constant bending during the open/close process and is very susceptible to the wiring breaking. You'll have to unwrap it and inspect. Mine broke between where it attaches to the inner fender well and the lid hinge. Took me a long time to find and solve this problem when it happened to me. Your open/close button may kind of work for a while and then you'll get nothing out of it. Make sure you unwrap most of the wiring. Mine broke closer to the pump (along the fender well) than you'd think. Good Luck!!
