What is this and how do I secure it?

Hi guys,

Been getting this annoying sound from the trunk when going over bumps. I would use the search, but I don't know what it's called. I put some tissue in the recess when the trunk lid closes, seems to have helped. Weird thing is, when I put the top down. That sound stops and I start getting something that sounds like its rubbing together; sounds like a squeak or even a chirp. Anyway, here's the pic, hoping someone can tell me how to secure this and get rid of that other sound as well. Thanks

Mine has a squeak because of where the tail light touches the bumper in the corner

The rubbber bumper, sorry for the late response. I'm in South Africa, think there's a 9 hour difference

Try cutting a felt pad with an adhesive backing.

Thanks axmea? Will try that. But, is there anyway to secure/repair and get it back to how it was ?

Change it's property by shaving the tabs a little bit.

I'm trying to figure out how that rubber bumper would be making noise, unless it is barely touching what it is suppose to be bumping.
