Default Portable 370Z Shade

Do they sell a "Portable Convertible Top". I know the description sounds odd but bare with me. My 370Z-R is a weekend car but sometimes i drive it to places where it could sit out in the sun for many hours in direct sunlight. My goal is to protect the inside from fading and leather drying out without having to use the mechanical top (which currently works just fine).

"Why don't you just use the top.....?"

Because i plan on keeping this car for years and YEARS as a weekend car and will not extend the warranty. Fixing the top is too expensive IF..IFF it ever breaks. I'd rather ONLY use the top in emergencies (start raining while driving, end up in a bad area to park...etc)

Aside from Car covers or "easy ups" is there anything unique out there? I almost imagine whatever this would be (if it even exists) would be in Brookstone, Skymall or an infomercial at 3am lol.

I used to have tonneau covers for my early 60's English sportcars. Made of leather with a zipper down the middle, they snapped on the car around the open perimeter. You could drive with half of it open and zip it up when you stopped at the store. Almost watertight, but kept it more secure.

I wish they made one for the Z.

You need a light car cover then. Tonneau's are non-existent anymore (NA/NB Miata had them OEM: last car I can think of designed for one).

Personally I would not leave the top down 24/7. This top is very tight and there are unfortunately more then a few people who have had rubbing issues at pinch points.

You want to put it up at the end of the day to stretch it back out and avoid it being in permanent pinch mode, IMHO.

Our 2010 is doing well, about 45K miles on it and plenty of top up/downs.
