Nissan Press Release on Pricing on 2009 370Z 12/30/08

Complete 2009 Nissan 370Z pricing revealed, plus a new tagline - Autoblog

PRESS RELEASE

Nissan Announces Pricing on All-New 2009 370Z Coupe

Revised Marketing Tagline "SHIFT_the way you move" Also Revealed

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (Dec. 30, 2008) – Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) gets an early start on the new year with the announcement of pricing of the all-new 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe and a revised marketing tagline. The new Z® goes on sale today at Nissan dealers nationwide with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)* starting at $29,930 for the 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and $31,230 with the new 7-speed automatic transmission. The new Z® is also offered in a 370Z Coupe Touring model, which is priced at $34,460 with the 6-speed manual and $35,760 with the 7-speed automatic transmission.

Two option packages are offered: the Sport Package, priced at just $3,000, with 19-inch RAYS forged wheels and Bridgestone Potenza tires, aerodynamic front and rear spoiler, larger Nissan Sport Brakes, SynchroRev Match (6-speed manual transmission only) and Viscous Limited Slip Differential; and the Navigation Package, priced at $1,850, with Hard Drive-based Nissan Navigation System, 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive and Interface System for iPod®.

As the most powerful Z® ever produced, the new 370Z hits dead center in the sports car "sweet spot" of performance, design and value – with less weight, more power and enhanced handling, quality and style. With a standard 332-horsepower 3.7-liter V6, choice of two advanced transmissions and a full array of driver-oriented interior features, the new 370Z is designed to be one of the top performance values in the world.

Also today Nissan announced the rollout of a revised marketing tagline: SHIFT_the way you move. Previously, SHIFT_ was used with multiple complement words, which varied by product or media application. The move to one set phrase "the way you move" reflects alignment of the direction Nissan is taking to meet changing consumer needs and wants.

"SHIFT_ has always been the core of Nissan's DNA. It is rethinking the ordinary, changing your point of view, and being original, forward thinking and challenging," said Christian Meunier, vice president, Nissan Marketing, NNA. "Our commitment to the philosophy of SHIFT_ has become even more critical as we look to the future and the pressures of economic and environmental change that are affecting consumer behavior in how they interact with and impact the world."

All Nissan national marketing materials will include the new SHIFT_the way you move tagline beginning in January.

I'm assuming the prices quoted do not include destination charges?

My total is $39,310! Ouch.

Namir 12-30-2008 10:01 AM

So its settled. Fully loaded is gonna set you back a cool $39,310 in MT
or $40,610 AT.

frost 12-30-2008 10:46 AM

Thanks for the info Tin.

ctzn 12-30-2008 12:11 PM

Thanks for the heads up, will be heading to dealer when I get back to CA.

Crash 12-30-2008 12:18 PM

39,310 + tax (assuming 8.25%) = $42,553.08

Then you need to add all the other crap like licensing, delivery, etc...

Cupcar 12-30-2008 12:35 PM

IMHO

Sport Package, priced at just $3,000, with 19-inch RAYS forged wheels and Bridgestone Potenza tires, aerodynamic front and rear spoiler, larger Nissan Sport Brakes, SynchroRev Match (6-speed manual transmission only) and Viscous Limited Slip Differential = Great Deal

Touring Package priced at $4530, with Homelink, Bluetooth, Leather Seats, Bose + XM Radio, Cargo Cover and Aluminum pedals = Screwjob...(and added weight)

Crash 12-30-2008 12:40 PM

I think it's worth it for the touring package... screen, computer, controls, leather, transceivers, etc... And it all looks bone stock while working with everything in the car. It's totally worth it if you don't care about the added weight.

I think that about sums up my feelings on the packages. Sport package seems like a rockin price. Touring ... not so much.
Bluetooth, eh, I don't talk on the phone in my car anyway
leather seats are overrated in phoenix
the bose stereo has a history of blowing
XM will probably be out of business in the next two years
the cargo cover makes me think of the 80s: just get tinted glass
and aluminum pedals, who cares?

Just my .02

I must say even though this was predicted sometime ago the pricing info. I have to say that nissan did a good job on the marketing platform.

1. The SynchroRev Match transmission is interesting and is offered in the sport package.

2. Even though there are aftermarket options the Stock Nav unit is so clean and imo so complete that it is very tempting to spring the extra dollars for that.

Someone like me I want base plus sport and if nav was available for the base plus sport I wouldn't think twice about getting it. That being said you must get the touring with leather seats, and the other extras.

But if you just spring for the touring you dont get the better brake system and you dont get the synchrorevmatch. This makes it a hard decision.

I know this is the way it is but they really would have scored points if they offered the base and then the buyer could order what ever they wanted i.e. brakes, spoiler, leather, Nav, so on and so forth. That would have been sweet from the looks that Nav system looks to be no joke really high-end.

I would be getting base+sport+nav, no leather, no cargo whatever, no aluminum pedals(aftermarket if i want those) if it was a cheap option maybe i get it seperate. I'd go aftermarket for my sound setup.

LMAO, well in a big city like Miami they might find a few takers, but it won't be long before they're below sticker. In my market (200k) people they will have a much harder time asking above sticker to begin with our local economy is in the crapper.

Mythos219 12-30-2008 02:41 PM

What's the aerodynamics package all about if the sport package includes front and rear spoilers?

Maybe in Miami there is drug money to launder, otherwise one would have to be out of their mind to pay a premium.

Pushing_Tin 12-30-2008 02:57 PM

I thought I'd a few on FeEbay with absurd markups, but there weren't any yet.

tifosiotaku 12-30-2008 03:38 PM

Wow. Sorry, but the fully loaded MT is a little too much $40K for the options I want? nothankyou.jpg

LiquidZ 12-30-2008 03:43 PM

Base w/sport is what I am getting!

Namir 12-30-2008 04:09 PM

Wow 5k markup? I can wait for MSRP and under.

not available on base model

the Navigation Package, priced at $1,850, with Hard Drive-based Nissan Navigation System, 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive and Interface System for iPod®.

It appears to me: not available on base model

AK370Z -- That makes the touring $6,000 + more

What Dealers in Nor. Cal. have them in stock??????????????

You're correct. They are NOT available in base model.

purplehaiz 12-30-2008 09:44 PM

Here is my 2 cents worth; we are the consumers, therefore we are dictating how much we are willing to pay for the "Z". I am a very careful shopper when it comes to new cars, you have to be willing to walk away if the deal is not what you want. I will get the 370Z, probably not when it first comes out (unless the dealer can get what I asked for and the price I asked for). If you let the new model craze wear off and leave the cars sit on the lot a few months you should be able to get a good deal. I have no problem waiting a few months if I have to. It's your money; don't just give it away.

This is the classic prisoner's dilemma. In order for prices to stay at MSRP or avoid any markups, everyone needs to refrain from purchasing long enough for the dealers to lower the price. The problem is human beings act in their own self interest 99.9% of the time. Those with money and no hesitation will buy this car ASAP some even paying the $5K markups. The only thing that provides some restraint is the economy which means less people will invest in luxury goods like a 2 door sports car. So as people have mentioned already, within 6 months or so prices should be down.

Ok the price has dropped. Nissan has a ton of dealerships and every dealer will fight each other to get your business. Lexus only has maybe 3 dealerships in a state like wa and sometimes 2 out of the 3 are owned by the same owner, so good luck getting a deal on a car like a lexus. Consumers shouldn't have too much problem getting the 370z near invoice in a few months.

Crash 12-31-2008 03:02 AM

Yeah. I'm going to wait for the MSRP or lower. The dealers here in Los Angeles are cut-throat so it won't take too much time. We have (I think) 7 or 8 BIG Nissan dealers here with about 10 more smaller dealerships. Needless to say, we have a LOT of Nissan dealerships in a 50 mile radius of Los Angeles.

I want the touring package for a LOT of reasons...

I can't have cloth seats because my friends are going to ride in the car and some of them sweat nasty-style and that will end up in the seats forever!!! So leather is a MUST.

I want the GPS. My phone is pretty good for GPS, but sometimes it's just not good enough. I want the hard disk system, and I really like the OEM Aux input port locations. Sound system doesn't matter that much to me as long as it works and I can hear my music. <--- I know I can get all this in an aftermarket head unit, but I like to OEM look and location.

Heated seats are a must. I know I live in Los Angeles, but we get some REALLY cold mornings. I use the seat warmers in my Mom's car and my friend's cars all the time.

I don't care about the metal peddles, but what ever. LOL
