Default 2014 OTD Price?

Been looking around at Zs and am now looking at buying new. I am on a budget and am looking at a 370z Base. What do you think you would Pay OTD for the 7AT model? If you cannot think of OTD, what would you offer for the car?

Lease a sport. Payment will change only a few dollars a month. Offer about $2400 off sticker. Base about $2000 but you'll regret it big time.

The market has thinned up on these cars so much that dealerships are not stocking many. You'll most likely do much better negotiating for a car that they already have on the lot because they're not moving fast. Dealers will likely try to pressure you to buy a 2013. It appears that Nissan has not offered any incentives on the 2013, so dealers are in a bad spot because the cost of the 2013's is more than the cost of the 2014's. There are not too many 2014's out there yet and the dealers likely won't order one until they clear a 2013. Be patient because finding the exact 2014 model that you want may take a month or two to appear on a local dealers lot.

To get an idea of what dealers are asking for 2014's that are on their lot, go to autotrader.com and do a search for 2014 370Z's. Since there are so few out there, I'd put the mileage at unlimited. Sort lowest price to highest price. Some dealerships only list MSRP, but others have a real internet price. Doing this I found a couple offering base models at about $3000 off sticker. This means that they're selling below invoice and only making money after they get the holdback from Nissan. When I find the one that I want somewhere in the Atlanta area, I'm going to offer about $3000 off the sticker price and will be prepared to walk. Negotiating over the phone is much easier anyway because they have to offer you the deal that you want in order to get you back in to the dealership.

BTW, negotiating will be much more fruitful if you don't even talk about a trade-in until you agree on a price (which you'll take regardless of whether or not they buy your trade-in). Then you'll know exactly what they're really offering you for your car and decide if it's fair or not. Also, financing is a separate transaction (assuming you're not paying cash). Don't ever talk about your monthly payment with them. They can completely rip you off and still get you at the payment you want. BTW, you need to be able to calculate a payment yourself. If you can't, let me know and I'll provide a link to help. Keep buying the 370Z, selling your current car, and financing separate and you'll do much better overall. You might lose some convenience, but you'll save money overall for sure.
