$660 per year with Allstate with one ticket over 3 years ago. Have 2 vehicles on the policy

tbonesteak 07-16-2009 05:02 PM

Damn some of you guys are doing VERY well. Those rates would be a joke where i live. I'm 25, live in downtown, Los Angeles, am single, do not own a property just yet, have one speeding ticket = PWNAGE.

that is way too expensive. if it was for 50/100/50 then ok but not for 10/20/10.
i suggest do ur own quote comparison. dont believe progressive

Shouldn't my rate be a bit lower?

No. That is actually a great deal for your age. It will drop big time in the next couple of years. I am 26 and this will be my first full covered sports car for this exact reason. I wasnt paying anyone that kind of insurance money for any car. Just think how much bigger your down payment would have been if you waited one more year and saved that insurance cash.

22, Los Angeles CA, USAA
$815 for 6 months.

One ticket in my life(speeding) but I believe USAA renewed my policy before the ticket was registered into their system.

I am 22, and i got quoted 192 a month for 100k.. 300k.. coverage and 100,000 uninsured motorist... also included is 50,000 renters insurance, i have one wreck from 3 years ago that totaled 6000 in repairs, it is with Nationwide.

codpet 07-16-2009 10:15 PM

That's for my current car.. I am getting quotes for the 370Z..

Everyone is quoting me 449/mo, or in that range. Geico, and Progressive so far, I haven't checked others but will.

That's nice.. four years, clean driving record, and my rate is 200% higher than people younger than me.

My area must suck - Jacksonville, FL.

A great deal? Are you kidding me! $200+ a month is insane when you're 24 with a clean record!!!

I just checked my policy and it works out to $100/month even. This is with maximum coverage, a $500 deductible, and one speeding ticket. It's my own policy, I'm 24, and I live in D.C. and the car isn't garaged.

I can't believe some of the numbers I'm seeing in this thread!!!

Edit: sorry, I'm 23.

I'm paying 218/mo for my Eclipse.. I'm getting ready to buy a 370Z. The insurance on the 370Z is in the 400-500/mo range for me. I've checked Progressive, Geico, and Travelers. They are all the same.

When I bought my Eclipse new, the insurance was 332/mo, before it started dropping over time.

I'll just deal with it for a year, until I turn 25.

It has to be the area.. Jacksonville does have a high crime rate.

Edit:

It's Jacksonville - my friends in the area are paying more than most as well. I did a check, using an address in Tampa just to see, and it was 40% cheaper there than in Jax.

These quotes help no one unless you say who you are insured by, where you live, your age, your credit score, and any points on driving record.

USAA
Louisiana
age:27
Credit Score: 786
Driving Record: Clean
$150.00 a month

Yes i know its high, Louisiana has some of the highest insurance rates in the country after hurricane Katrina. For kicks I had the same car quoted for Chesapeake, VA through my insurance company and I would have only been paying $90.00

Here in New orleans, I was looking at a minimum of 400 a month for insurance on an RX7 at 22. Clean record too. I guess it is becasue we have so many uninsured motorist here.

Im in New orleans, and in the same boat as you. Im with state farm, and Im slightly higher than you.

I just checked out a few more.. I found one in Jacksonville, that gave me a fantastic offer.

All State
199/Month
50/100K
500 Deduct.
GAP Coverage
Accident Forgiveness

I was shocked, everyone else is so high, at least by 50%, and even with a credit check All State came back with a much lower rate.

Has anyone else seen this? I don't understand why everyone else would want double, and yet you find one that offers more for 50% less.

I ran this request based on a new 370Z, as a financed car.

Edit:

All State pulled my driving record - hence the lowest rate. Go figure.. they do something that makes sense.

Edit:

I called All State, the rate was accurate. They wanted more than Progressive for my older current car, and said the Nissan was less to insure through them than the older car because it's a safer vehicle.
