Default 2013 Z @ nissanusa. base+sport A7 $40k???

So i built the new Z @ the website equal to my current Z which is a fully loaded base sport auto. All that said... my Z lacks oil cooler, new fascia, red brakes, revised shocks led lights and now they get the red button standard. I installed mine. My cars msrp was $37,400 before ttl. I payed 37k flat, total.
The new car is $39,570. I bet building a touring would throw it above $45k? Its good because it keeps the value of older ones a little higher BUT... Do you think @ these prices the Z is still a good value??? a loaded Z touring in 09 ran about 41k and could be had for $38k. Is there enough done to the Z to warrant these high increases... Thoughts.

well everything went up around 1k respectively, so if you payed 41 for full and its running 45, maybe not. There was very minimal changes performance wise, the only thing you would be paying for is some aesthetics and fascia change....would you pay a few extra grand for a change in plastic?

I think now, the value of a new 370Z is getting harder to justify. The differences are small, and the 3-4k price creep sine 2009 (might be more, might be less) would be enough to buy a new facia, new shocks, LEDS, start button, brake powdercoat, and oil cooler. If you think about the cost difference between those and what we already have, it's almost nothing. The only tangible upgrades are addition of LEDs and oil cooler, and aftermarket coolers are much better.
at $41-45,000, the price is firmly in G37 territory, which is much more luxurious inside.

Anyone paying anywhere close to MSRP for a '13 Z is being foolish.

I thought a base Z is right around $32K? That's still great value for what you get.

About 7K more than a base FR-S and about 5K more than a base BRZ -- and you get a LOT more car for that extra cash.

Also, MSRP is always high. The goal is to get the car as close to invoice as possible

It's mainly high given the fact that salaries don't tend to jump a few grand every year... otherwise, especially going by JPY to USD conversions, it's probably not too bad.

If that's a 2013 price, it went up an average of around 1 K a year.

I don't care what the reason is but that is getting close to $40k and thats way to much for a base+sport Z. A car with no power seats, horrible stereo, and really no other frills.

I would say the majority of this is being caused by the current dollar vs yen fiasco. The Z has pretty much gone up 4k since it debuted in 2009 and there certainly haven't been any changes to the car that justify that kind of increase.

So to answer the original question, no I don't think this car is a good value anymore for the price, and trying to pass this off as an affordable sports car isn't gonna fly anymore. I never thought I would say this, but frankly, I think both the V-6 and V-8 Mustang are just about the best bang for the buck you can get right now.

problem with the mustangs are the 2 piece spark plugs getting broke in the heads.no good.a mechanic friend of mine refuses to work on the newer mustangs because of this.so pick your poison wisely.that is alot of money for a base.i would suggest finding a slightly used one so the original buyer will take the hit instead.
