A basic touring is $37,820 and a tour sport is 40,850: all prices with no options. A fully loaded to the max touring is 45,681... at this price range, a car like the 302 BOSS, camaro ZL1 make for a better deal. You get more for your money... But the Z IS SPECIAL FROM AN EMOTIONAL STANDPOINT.. from a priice standpoint. Its quickly flopping. Those better be some magic shocks they put in the 2013 and I hope they tweaked the engine and tranmission to put down 4.5-4.8 on the auto/manuals consistantly in spite of no power number increase. It better feel awesome now and I hope they fixed the weak exhaust note. Also I'm hoping the cooler does more on aggressive driving. If all of this has been achieved??? The Z may be a bargain still. But my gut tells me this car didn't get shyt done???? Hopefully, some members that owned earlier years that traded can school us. I'm lining up for my test drive. Having owned a 9 and 11. I think i'd make a decent judge of the changes??? ADDED INFO: I just configured a Nismo. To my shock, the bose was an option. When i added all accesories it was $46,140. The manual leather seats DID NOT carry over from japan to the USa for the refresh. Wow. Nissan disappointment. My next car may be a Hyundai. lol. They havent even gotten a new gencoupe, its a refresh and they saw power boosts and serious feature upgrades. Imagine the second gen gen... painful disappointment nissan. |
I would have to agree with those that feel the Z has lost its performance value. with the tiny changes yet large price increase over years all i can say is it is still a great performing car with great looks but not a huge bang for your buck.
Wait i take that back the looks use to be great along with the price. |
Does anyone have any background info on the reasoning for the price increases? I'm pretty positive no other vehicle in Nissan's lineup has had anything near a 4k price increase over the last 4 years. (excluding GTR)

They do it to help the 09 owners on resale

I was planning to buy a fully loaded touring convertible 6mt, but after i saw the 50k sticker price, i decided i'd rather put in a little more money and get a Vette instead......

As much as I hate to say it this is exactly what I was thinking. 45+ and your starting to get in Vette territory. I hate the interior and build quality on them but 400+HP in a car that weighs as much or less then our Z's is pretty sweet. |
Go to the Corvette forum and look for their vendors, they have crazy deals on Corvettes usually, $5-10K off MSRP is not uncommon
|
Was looking on autotrader and there is a dealer in VA selling loaded Tourings w/ Sport for a little over $50K!!!

For now. Wait 3 months and show faint interest and see how many times they call to make a deal. They still have some 11's out there and 12's. No rush at all. Im working multiple dealers on my blue sport/7AT. I know exactly what Im going to pay them. I already have a buyer for my 2010. No rush at all..... |
Yes, MSRP's are high! But like DLSTR says, don't rush.
It's not like 370Z's are flying off the dealer lots now and with higher prices, it will slow down even more. Nissan dealers are willing to negotiate when it comes to the Z, they don't want to be stuck with inventory that's $40K each. I'll disclose the price on my 13 on order, after I receive it and it's a totally done deal in about 2 weeks. But right now, it's not much over invoice. |
Wow.
Every time more info comes out about the 2013, I'm sure glad I got a 2012. It has most of the bugs worked out (sans the brakes maybe), had a relatively low price, and still had the better looks. So so glad I got the 12. |
I don't get this thread.
Prices inflate every year, fools pay MSRP, the Z is still a fun car for the money. You want a great price, drop some standards and shop in Mid-November. |

I don't know what the big deal is. Compare it to the more powerful Hyundai and the Z is still the better car. I don't think Nissan really compares it to that car anyways. They see the Z as a less expensive alternative to a Boxster/Cayman or BMW Z4. If you compare it those cars, the Z is still a bargin since those cars have shown price increases also. The Vette is a fantastic car, but it's design is twice as old as the Z. It hasn't changed much since 2004. I really wouldn't worry about the MSRP price since that's not usually what you end up paying anyways.
