2013 order surprise....
 

after having my order in for the 2012 touring for two whole weeks i got a call from the dealer today....i guess the dealership got a call this morning saying that they are no longer producing new ordered 12's so they will make me a 13 (one of you guys said this might happen). i love the dealer i went with and he was super honest with me (or at least i think so) about a possible slight difference in invoice but he will still work the "negotiated" portion of the price down according to how he did before. still a little nervous about that aspect so we will see.

i love love love the 2013 sports wheels and they actually come equipped with RED BRAKE CALIPERS which is freakin sweet if you ask me. however, i am going to have persimmon interior which might be clashy. i saw there was a thread on here about orange brake calipers which i think will look a ton better with the persimmon. but as my dad said, "you cant see them both at the same time anyways". lol. oh dad.

on a more unfortunate note my tire on my dodge neon blew this morning on the highway...gosh this car cannot come soon enough.

2. You should ask for a bigger discount because you don't like the LEDs and fangless spoiler.

Totally agree, even if you like the 13 more don't let them know that. You can also tell them that you're losing the 0% which will cost you even more. They'll usually reduce an ordered car more than one in stock as well. I'm sure there might be a 12 out there somewhere that can track down for you if you want to go that route. Sometimes locating a car adds to the cost because they actually pay a little more for it and if they truck it in to the dealership. All things considered, they made an error so they should eat any extra costs if there is a 12 out there equipped like you want.

yeah i am really wanting them to stick to their price, the one we agreed on originally, regardless of the year. and i prefer the fangs also:( i actually love the LEDs but i will miss the fangs. then again it is going to be black so im not sure how noticeable it will be that they arent there. what do you guys think

Stick firm. Either they find the car you agreed on our the price applies to the 2013. There wasn't much of a price change

Thats what I thought Sara, I spoke to Joe from Koeppel Nissan on the forums and he told me 12' production has ended. That's why I was confused when you said you ordered a 12'. I'm in the process of ordering a 13' White/Persimmon. Good luck.

i have officially decided that EVEN THOUGH i love the led and wheels and the fact it comes with red brake calipers...i dont love the fanglessness enough to bend on our original price whatsoever. so either they come down alllll the way to that price and eat what they have to. OR. they find me the exact 2012 to my specs.

i keep staring at pics of BLACK 2012 front ends. it just seems like seeing the 2013 in this magma red makes the lack of fangs more obvious. im wondering what your guys' opinion is since this car will be black; will the lack of fangs be as noticeable as we all think?

People [without black cars] often have the notion that because the car is black, most features aren't seen due to also being black. Yet those with black cars can still see the features. Mine is black and even though, I still notice every curve and detail of my car. Just sucks on doing matte/CF mods due to the fact it's practically black accenting black. :icon17:

I personally wouldn't take a '13 over the '12 cuz I don't care for the redesigned front bumper eliminating the fangs and adding the led's. I don't care for the new wheels either. So if it were me I would tell them to find a '12 in the combo you want if they can. If not you will either have to settle for a black on black to keep the '12 and fangs or go with the '13 model. With the car being black the fangs aren't as noticable on as on a lighter color car. However you will still notice the difference in the front end. There are alot of people that black out the fangs on non-black Z's.

dont know what your exact specs were on the touring model you ordered, or how far you are willing to look for the car... but i know there is a black 2011 touring 6spd left over with like 15 miles on it still sitting at a dealer near me in NY.

Basically, what you need to think about and break down is, okay you want a 2012 or older right?

Touring...
Manual or Auto...

Those are the Important things. Trust me, I wanted illuminated door sills on mine, but they didn't have a black one the way I wanted coming this way for months, so I went without the sills. I've been happy ever since even though it wasn't Exactly what I wanted.

That being said, I know you're working with a local dealer, but give FuszNissan a PM shout and see if he can work for you as well. He found my Z inbound before the dealership even knew they were getting it. He might be able to find you a 2012 still on a lot. He can get it purchased and shipped to your local dealer. :tup:

dang. its a hard decision. it would be hard to walk away from a 2013 being made for me as we speak (and risk them not being able to find a 2012 in june...thats when i will have the exact amount of money i want to give them) just for this freaking fang issue. but the 2009-2012 is what i fell in love with. i like the 2013 and many things about it, but it makes me nervous that ive never seen the thing in real life and on top of that ive never ever seen it in black, even on the internet, due to the fact it is only being shown it its premiere color. gosh im irritated and stressed. maybe a couple days to think about it would be good

Buy 13' then buy 09-12 bumper from the classifieds for like 200$?
Maybe someone can photoshop black on the 13' Z pics.

It's understandable, and anyone going through this issue would tell you they've all felt the same. But the key point is, this is the 2nd largest investment in your life, and it's your transportation. Not to mention that, but it's an enthusiast car. So it's more then that. Sit down and decide what YOU want. And that may take a week or an hour, but don't be pressured into a half honest decision based on whats in front of you right now, or what you might have to wait for.

The biggest thing going for you is you're not worried about the funding. You'll have it when you're ready. So don't jump on something that's not 100% what you want just because it's available. I'm pretty sure somewhere in this country there is a Z with your name on it, with all those features you just listed. Are you strictly looking at new, or would you be open to a used one in good condition?

Not very considering why are you buying a car that you have to mod a bumper to make it presentable. :ugh2:

I personally do not care for the wheels on the '13 version eithrt. The '13 bumper is all right. You just have to see a lot of '13 to really like them. Seeing something in person & looking at photo's is no comparison.

chris you have been so helpful and supportive, thanks. i am definitely going to give myself some time to think on it. honestly, the easiest first step to a solution of this decision is this: making sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that my dealer can hand me that 13 for the exact price of the 12. if not, a 12 it is. because i am certain i dont want to spend even 100 bucks more if i have the slightest doubt about the 13.

and im looking for brand new. again, thanks for the support. i figured id be chewed up and spit out on a car forum since im a chick lol

Personally I don't care for the LEDs at all. I have seen a few around my area with the LEDs up front and like I said not a fan. I have a 12' black cherry touring/sports/nav 7at black leather/suede interior and love it and love all the comments I get on the color. Changed out the map lights with blue leds and get tons of great comments on those as well. If you really want a 12 they will find it for ya... You may have to bat your eyes a little but they will. There are several features of the 2013 that don't really appease me personally, and honestly, even if they could come in at Under the price of a 2012, I still wouldn't take one. But thats me. What you're willing to accept, only you know. Either way, whatever you decide on as long as you are 100% happy with your purchase, then its a win. And if you ever have the slightest discontent with it inside the first 3 days, take it back and get what you Want.

Any dealer can only see their cars and the cars in their region. They can't see outside of that. That's why I'd recommend talking to a few of the dealers we have here just to see what they have listed. They can help get the 2012 you want routed to your local dealer. :tup:

I just realized your name is Sara that's what I named my Z when I got her anfew months ago! Btw love my fangs. LEDs and fangs was why I didn't wait when I got mine... That and my color combo is rare here in the states!
