How can a 2010 z with 500 miles on it at the dealer be considered new?

This is funny to me.

Because it's not titled yet.

What's your definition of new?

As long as it hasn't been titled, I think they can always sell it as new but not sure if there's a mileage limit. That car is either a demo vehicle, manager's car or was transported from another dealer or something.

Edit: Although 500 miles isn't too bad, I would factor that into the price. Personally I wouldn't take a car like this with that high mileage without some good discount or at least extended warranty thrown in. Who knows how that 500 miles was driven.

I agree. Sadly most of these sales guys are just not that bright. They don't realize they are insulting you when they try to sell you something that has 500 miles on it at msrp.

Default nation wide

At least try to expand to a regional search.

You can find dealers who will sell at or near invoice.

there is no reason you should be talking MSRP on any Z at this time. Invoice is more like it.

Especially with 500 miles on it. Just keep looking around until you find a good price, and good service.

Yea definitely shop around. Car salesmen will always start at or higher than MSRP. What bothers me most is when they don't realize that I've done my homework and still try to push stupid crap on me.

I was looking for Nissan Rogue last weekend for my gf and one sales guy tries to sell us one for over MSRP because of some paint protection/tints/pin striping (aka BS items) that the dealer already added to the car. Then the line that invoice price is what they pay for the car so they can't sell it at that price or else they're not making money.

You can try the sponsor dealers on this site, they won't BS you like most others will.

Whatever. It's a year old, although it has very low miles. The price should still reflect that it's last year's model.

I had a dealer try to sell me a 2009 model as "new" for 2010 with over 5K on it and some damage to the lip because it was never titled.

I think it has to do with the laws on leasing vehicles -- not that it matters if you are buying it.

Gimmie a fvcking break.

Im pretty sure the 500 is from trading with other dealer. One of new buyer wanted sepecific car and it came from other dealer. The other dealer droved that car and traded with watever car and drove new car back to their dealer for that buyer, putting 500 or less on both cars. I seen it happen.

However i think you shouldnt buy cars with more than 100 miles on it. Unless it was brought to dealer from other dealer on your request.

That could have been a demo car. Even if they had to transport the car from another dealer, 500 miles seems too much to rack up especially with the number of Nissan dealerships in NY.

IMO if youre going to get a "used" sports car, you might as well get one with over 1500 miles, in hopes that the previous owner broke the car in properly, then beat on it and sold it. With sports car less than 1500 or so miles, often you are getting a car that the owner drove real hard prior to trading it/selling it.

This really only matters however if you believe in breaking the car in (<4K RPM) prior to hitting 1K-2K miles....

I just know that if I was planning on breaking in my Z, however something came up and realized I had to sell with <1500 Miles, you better believe I'm going to have some fun with it.

General rule.... don't buy used sports car unless you know the pervious owner personally... especially with the 370's where half the owners are kids <25..I know this car is listed as new...but its not, and it was most likely driven very hard for those 500 miles.

Used 350s, perhaps. They're cheap enough. 370s, not so much.
