You are in a good position to make a fight with the dealer. But in the end, don't worry too much. I bought my car with 300 miles on it because I didn't want to wait 3 months. It's been a fantastic, problem-free car. I had a laugh when I first programmed my phone into the car and it went to slot #2. Slot #1 was "Joe's phone", the general manager of the dealership.

Just think about how many miles these thing can get just getting them to the dealer.

If that helps you sleep at night...

My car had 9 miles on it when I bought it and I was worried about where the 9 miles came from. You should definitely go have a talk with the dealer.

If your car has under 9 miles it didn't get driven anywhere! We send them out the door with up to 50 miles from the factory. This would account for some extended testing or tire balance issues,etc... I would be pissed though if someone put 200 on my vehicle though! I think .25 a mile would be a good refund!

If I give you a buck, can I put four harsh, brutal miles on your Z?
No way! Ask for a five year maintenance contract or extended warranty. If you start with $72.75 (.25 X 291) you will not have much room to negotiate.:santasleigh2:

Who cares? It's only 300 miles in the 100K you will put on the car.

tsolin01 12-17-2010 11:09 AM

In the grand scheme of things, those extra miles aren't really going to matter much but still complain and see what they can offer you as compensation.

It sucks though... it's like buying a used mattress, yea it's clean now but you don't really know what kind of nasty things were done on there... it's more of a psychological thing than anything else. You want to be the first person to have fun with the car, to plant your flag and it sucks finding out someone else got there before you did. I am still talking about cars... I think...

kenchan 12-17-2010 11:15 AM

i think my car had like 5-6 miles when i test drove it and bought it.

I'm not so worried about the 30 miles but the whole 98 miles that averaged out to 16 MPG. I could get MPGs that low for that long if I tried.

Sure you could. I get 6mpg on the track.

Lemers 12-17-2010 02:44 PM

Maybe I shouldn't worry about gas that much then cause my 21.6 mpg is just fine.

spearfish25 12-17-2010 03:55 PM

I get about 18mpg with my mix of city and highway driving. So 16mpg isn't that terrible. If you're only doing stop-go traffic, 16 is where it'll settle out I'd bet.

IDZRVIT 12-17-2010 03:58 PM

Um.......get over it and move on?

Lemers 12-17-2010 04:01 PM

If you don't like the thread not one said you had to post a reply. Take your own advice and move on.

IDZRVIT 12-17-2010 04:48 PM

I don't have to express sympathy. I don't have to agree with anyone either. So now what?
Nothing. So please refrain from telling me that if I don't like a thread then don't post.
