Default Where can I find unsold 2009 models?

I've been reading these forums for a while now and noticed people were getting some really good deals on new 2009 models that dealer still had in stock. I've been car shopping for a while now and while I originally had my eyes set on a genesis coupe, and then later a Honda CR-Z, I noticed that people here were able to find 370Z's for well under invoice.

Normally the 370Z would have been out of my price range, but some people have been getting 7-9k off of MSRP for the 2009 models. Unfortunately I called around the local dealerships in the South Florida area (Broward County to be exact) and none of them claim to have any 2009's left at all. Does anyone think it's feasible to buy a base 2009 Z (no sports package) for 25-26k prior to ttt? If so, where can I find one? I had assumed that the South Florida area would be rolling in unsold ones because of the real estate crash and the otherwise general high unemployment levels but unfortunately I can't seem to find any at all.

Once the 2011 models hit the showroom, do you think I'll be able to snag a 2010 model for roughly the same price after Christmas and before New Years?

You can find used 2009's that are barely used (less than 4000 miles) relatively easily. They usually come with an even better warranty than the new ones.. And get a great deal in them!

Go to Nissan's website then type in your area code in the bottom left. Expand the search radius to 400 miles and just start clicking on dealerships one at a time and selecting 370z. The nearest dealerships will show first. It is tedious, but it works to find what is stock within driving range. If it only shows you the nearby ones, fiddle with the webpage a bit and there will be an option for the 400 mile radius. Also, it often will bring you back to page one of your search so that is tedious as well. There will be multiple pages of dealerships. To search the 400 mile radius instead of 100 you will see the search results on the left side. I think if your search results take a whole page it won't show you enough dealerships and you will have to fiddle with the search options a bit.

Also, when you do find one, the dealerships don't always respond to the email option given from the search engine. You should find the dealership's website or call if they don't.

Well, kree's idea works fine, but if you go to New Cars, Used Cars - Find Cars at AutoTrader.com and do a nationwide search for "new" 2009's you'll find that a total of 174 are listed. Be willing to travel a bit to find what you want and yes they are being discounted as you suggest.

Thanks a lot Kree. Is Nissan's dealer inventory fairly accurate and up to date? I noticed that the single red base model 2010 was listed on the website and it seems to match what the dealer said. How do I expand the search out to 400 miles? I can only select 100.

Unfortunately within that 100 mile radius there are no base model 370Z's. I did find a couple of touring/sport/navigation packages about 100 miles away (actually the dealership is like 10 minutes drive from my dad's place) but even if I were to knock off a solid 8k from MSRP, those are still 30k+ cars.

Ah guess I will have to wait until next year for the 2010's to fall into my price range if they ever do I understand that Nissan overestimated sales of the 370Z and ended up producing way too much for the 2009 model year but the economic slump of late 2008 pretty much torpedoed their market. I doubt they will make that mistake again.

There's a used 2009 370z touring with 1,200 miles listed near me for $28k and change.

I would buy a used Camry, but I'm wary of touching a used 370Z. Lord knows whats been done to it.

Do the initial search from nissan's front page, then immediately above the map on the right there is a dropdown menu that says distance. Set that to 400 and click search. Then to get to dealers further away, on the left side there will be a drop down menu that says "page". Each page is a set of dealers further and further away from you. If you want to go further than 400 miles, just look up a zip code in the next state over or something and type that in on the main page instead then repeat.

The thread author is in Florida though, so I think he'd be looking for a dealership in the southeast.
edit: how far is Maryland from Florida?

Thanks for all the help folks. Unfortunately it appears that it is just not my day. Here is hoping that the 2010 year models become dirt cheap next year. Either everyone has already snagged all the deals or Nissan build more upscale models than they should have but there are no base 2009 370Z's within a 400 mile radius of South Florida and probably aren't any in all of Florida considering the state is not that big.

I don't want my search to have been in vain so for anyone else in Florida who is interested in spending for a more upscale model there are several other more expensive trims available that should be a real bargain. I'm guessing they may even go 10,000 off MSRP once the 2011 models hit considering how expensive they were to begin with. All the fun of a new car at used car prices with full warranty.

Esserman Nissan has a Graphite, automatic, touring, sport, navigation available.

Fort Pierce Nissan has two 2009 models. A black, manual, touring and a white, manual, touring.

I would have considered these two, but I really don't want to drive a manual (heresy I know!) considering im planning on using it primarily as an urban daily driver.

John Marrazi Nissan has three 2009 models. Unfortunately all are "the works".

There are two red, automatic, sport, touring, navigation cars available in either black or grey leather interior.

There is also a blue, manual, sport, touring, navigation as well.

You can probably get a good deal here as this guy has three and probably does not want to keep them much longer.

Gettel Nissan has a single blue, automatic, touring, sport.

Celebrity Nissan has one blue, automatic, touring, navigation.

And thats pretty much it for Florida 2009 model wise. There maybe a few lurking in the panhandle as that was probably outside of the 400 mile range but someone else will have to check.

To make the most thorough search available, I would have to use the inventory search feature and scour the entire U.S. for the appropriate model going state by state. Then again, I could simply use autotrader but that probably isn't as accurate as Nissan's own website.

Ive found only one base automatic 09 left in the entire U.S. on autotrader and that is at Amato Nissan all the way in Wisconsin! I would have to fly there, buy the car, then have it trucked back to Florida. That in itself would cost probably $2000 dollars, completely defeating the purpose of trying to find a cheap 370Z. Theoretically I could drive 1500 miles all the way from South Florida to Wisconsin, sell my old car there, and drive the 1500 miles back, and only end up paying for gas ($160) bucks but that would mean taking a week off from work and making a three thousand mile roadtrip. Sounds fun in theory but otherwise totally impractical

Autotrader shows one in Hammond,LA - is that too far or sold?

I also see some others in OH,NJ and Lou Fusz lists one - they are a sponsor here and will give you a good deal if anyone can.

I saw the one in Hammond (Bill Hood) Nissan. That one is a "new" touring trim demo car with thousands of miles on it I believe.

Ditto from the Fusz ones, both have msrp's in the mid 30's which I suspect is also a touring trim. In either case going to his website doesn't list either model as available. Only a red 2009 which I suspect is a sport package (clicking on it further says its black!).

Autotrader and even many dealer websites are horrible in updating their online inventories, not to mention the trim listed is often incomplete or even incorrect. It's why I preferred going directly to Nissan.com and searching because they have the full data available.
