Default Well done, Serramonte Nissan (Norcal)

Just picked up my brand new 2010 PW 370Z, and I have to say my buying experience was top notch.

I worked with Vitaly, who's the forum representative for Serramonte Nissan (just south of San Francisco). We actually settled on a price for the Z *over the forum* before I even set foot in the dealership. $30,500 + tax/fees for a 2010 base + sport, which is a great deal in the bay area. I shopped around for about a month, and this was the lowest price hands down.

I traded in my beautiful 08 civic si fg2, which i'll miss forever. Trade-in value was really the only negotiation point (the same negotiation point that had me walking out of most other dealers), and I can honestly say my negotiation with Vitaly was fair and amicable. We both moved price points fairly, and arrived in the middle of our initial anchors. At no point did Vitaly or anyone at Serramonte come off as high-pressure, pushy, or disrespectful. I place a high premium on quality of character, and so I was happy to seal the deal with a firm handshake. Good stuff.

I'd highly recommend working directly with Vitaly, who is himself a Z enthusiast and who worked hard to put together a great deal for a fellow forum member. Much appreciated man!

I just bought a pearl white touring/sport/navi/7AT from Vitaly today. He made it very easy. Didn't have the color combo I wanted but he found it and had it ready the next morning...Also, he gave me a price that was far below what other dealers in the Bay Area were offering. I'd highly recommend him and the dealership.

If you don't mind me asking, what were the conditions of the trade-in? I am looking to get out of my FG2 (navi) as soon as possible, but KBB is showing that I'm probably going to get a bum deal.

i traded in my 2008 nighthawk black pearl FG2 (non-nav) with 28k miles for 15,900. we were 2000 apart in our initial offers, and met just shy of the middle. i thought this was fair, and i expected that a trade-in value would end up being lower than my target private-party sale price. serramonte ended up listing the car as 18,900. not too far off from the trade value they gave me, after inspection/touch-up costs and negotiation wiggle room for the next buyer are factored in.

don't accept too low of a trade for your fg2. this was the deal-breaker between me and stevens creek nissan in san jose, ca. last i recall, there are no new civic si's on dealer lots anywhere, so we have a bit of bargaining power re: kbb suggested trade value vs. our actual trade value. the dealers will also be able to move your si very very easily. if the serramonte website listings are any indication, my si was gone within the next month.

i took down my autotrader posting a long time ago, and i'm still getting calls about the FG2. (i'm not sure how people still get my number?!) if you're patient and have time, you should be able to take in more money by selling private party.

also, do you own your fg2? if so, selling private party is less of a headache. if you still owe on the car, though, you'd have to go to the bank, get a pay-off quote, have the seller pay you so that you can pay off the loan, get the loan co. to transfer title, etc. kind of a pain. that's also part of the reason i decided to go ahead and trade in.

hope that helps man
