COuld i financially own a nissan 370z

Hello Forum,

Please to meet everyone here and hopefully i will too join the club of the 370z owner. I am stoked and CANT WAIT!

Anyways here is my situation.

I make around 2500$ a month, I am 20 years old, I live with both parents, and my parents lets just say are rich bastards haha. So me living with them and really I dont have any real expenses of my own, I will save a good 1500$ - 2000$ in the bank for the next 12-15 months. I will have approx 18k - 20k saved up. I work 18$/hr actually..

So basically I will not spend money on anything really but just want to save up for my dream car, my parents are set, Im currently not going to school because my job offers me plenty of hope for the future.

Anyways that aside, If I put a down payement of 10k or 18k on the 370z, is this a stupid idea? I want to drop the montly payement as low as possible

what about insurance and stuff? I was hoping to buy it under my dads name.

While it sounds like you're in good enough shape to get a Z, it also sounds like you're a bit immature, financially speaking. Nothing a little reading on the Internet can't fix though!

Putting money down on a car is usually never a bad thing. Not putting any money down is almost always a bad thing, in contrast.

You have to be comfortable with the payment, as long as you plan to finance it. If you're parents are nice and trusting, they may be able to provide the financing for you through their financial institute, as I'm guessing from your questions you may not have a lot of established credit.

Insurance will be high, seeing as you're a young, unmarried male (Guessing you're a male). Most insurance companies have limits on how old a child can be on your insurance policy, so not sure if you can still get on your parents' policy without being in college or something.

It sounds like you're in good shape to start saving some money, and hopefully investing some as well for the future. A new car would be great, but having the payments and other financial responsibility once you do leave your parents' house may prove to be rough.

Good luck on whatever you choose to do!

Ahh, I believe in living life to the fullest brother. I know I may seem immature but not many people my age work 18$/hr, really you should see the people dieying to get a job around here. My company wants to promote me very soon also, so I know I will make over 35 thousand a year next year.. I was thinking that if I get a 350z I could easily pay for a used one and pay the full amount of money, but 370z has been a dream of mine for some time. Why drive something your not happy with? Anyways, I wont be going to college right now, I will be running my father's business which i what i am studying for on the side.

Anyways, I believe my dad will get the car under his name, line of credit and such will be ALL under him. He knows I can pay the money every month, and if I do put down 18k he will have confidence in me.

I am just wondering what you think the monthly income will come up to? Is there somewhere I can check for this?

Don't misunderstand me now, I said financially immature. I didn't mean to say you were immature in general. Sounds like you're doing better than 90% of the 20 year olds out there.

That's probably a better idea for you. You get a nice car that's paid off AND you're happy with.

Are you referring to what you're monthly bills could be? Or what a car payment would be?

haha oh no brother, I completely understood, sorry for not wording it right :)

Uhm. Yes I was talking about the monthly bills would be? Also maybe I will look into the 350. I know i can buy one for 20k$ here easily, used one in awsome condition.

a Kit car is a piece of junk...lol

A 350z/g35 have sooooo many mod options. You could buy it all cash with the money you got and then mod it as you like with time. At 20 yrs old, not fun to have a loan...

Basically junk put together haha, alot of people get away with it, makes me angry and confused sometimes.

Anyways, yeah man, I really like the shape of the 350z and 370z. WHo knows though, maybe by next year the price will come down? Im looking through the 350z's right now, in your opinion what is the best color?

IWuv370z 06-26-2010 11:14 PM

If i do get a 350z, I want it to look EXACTLY like this Desktop Wallpapers · Wallpapers Motors · Cars · NISSAN 350Z | 1024x768 1600x1200

350z: blue, dark blue, grey and ivory pearl.

G35: Athens Blue, Diamond graphite and Ivory pearl.

Black looks amazing but a PITA to keep clean.

Damn those stock rims, makes me wanna puke... I know the dark blue looks the nicest.

nogoodname 06-26-2010 11:18 PM

Athens blue with Work wheels. The best rim IMO for the g35 or 350z...lol

I want that now...lol

damn reeally? Even under my dad's insurance? He has a transportation company, and cabs. He has over 40 years of experience and very little accidents, almost none actually..

WarmAndSCSI 06-26-2010 11:30 PM

Though it may seem like you can afford it right now, you may not be able to once you move out on your own. Trust me there... I was just able to start affording a nice new car right when I turned 21 (living on my own for the past 2 years at that point). And I was making $29-30/hr USD then.

Making quite a bit more now, and getting a tax/insurance break being married, so I was able to fit the new 370Z into the budget. You're on a good start job-wise it sounds, I would just buy something used now - keep it fairly stock - then trade it in for your new dream car a few years down the road.

And speaking insurance... it was costing me $230/month USD when I was single (21 y/o still) for my 2008 Evo X. The 370Z costs almost 50% more to insure, even with my wife listed as the primary driver.

Honestly, if you wait a year, think about picking up a used 2009 370Z. I'm guessing you could find a clean one for about $23-24k then. Don't finance a car this expensive unless you really, really want it. Else, you're throwing money away for no good reason.

I highly doubt that... he's in Canada. Prices are higher.

Well, I was talking USD anyway. I'm not sure what the current exchange rate is, but an excellent condition 2009 370Z with 25k miles is going for $25.5k down here. I can imagine it dropping another thousand or two in a year.

Yeah seriously... I just looked at the MSRP on a base 370Z and it's $41k CAD. That's still at least $39k USD. That's crazy!

KaienZ34 06-26-2010 11:49 PM

I'm 30 bought the 370 new jan. 09, invoice was 40K (i know i got screwed but i couldn't wait) i put 25K down around 7% interest the note is 323 a month financed for 72 months. I'm married and have multiple cars and good driving record the insurence on the Z is 85 a month. Hope this helps as a templet, of course because of the age and married vs single thing insurence and what not will be a little different. I also am selling my other 09 370Z here on this forum, just throwing that out there. LoL...

If your parents have a CAA card, you could find the used car value prices. That helps when buying.
