Ordering 2010 Models
Hi,
Has anyone purchased a 2010 model? Do they exist? I am planing to buy one Touring+Sports+Nav. Any suggestions? Thanks! |
Suggestions? Get Platinum Graphite unless you want to spend your life washing your car and obsessing over swirls. (It's possible I'm biased.) I got the persimmon interior which looks great but takes some care that black doesn't.
I've got a 2010 Touring+Sport+Nav+Automatic. Got it the end of December and had to drive to Southern Cal from Northern Cal to get it; all they had were 2009's near me and I never buy the first year of any car. I'd spent the last six years driving a manual S2000 and decided it was time to go automatic; it's nice to be able to shift when you feel like it and then say screw it and throw it back into automatic when you've had enough. I paid $500 over invoice. Probably could have done better if I was local but they knew I'd driven 400 miles to get there and didn't want to leave without a car. Kind of kills your ability to walk out and they know it. Personally, $500 one way or the other was not as important to me as getting what I wanted. If you know exactly what you want, wait for it. Nothing sucks more than settling for something not quite right and always kind of regretting it. |
here coupes will hopefully arrive next month... (southern Mass)
|
Thanks,
I am going to go to a bunch of dealers and see what happens tomorrow. Cheers, |
You can check edmunds as well, to see what dealers have in stock

Finally went to a Nissan dealer owned by a friend of mine. Working with sr. salesman there and lookl\s like I won't place an order until March with delivery in May |
Wow... Lots of 2010's in stock at my dealer in Alberta.... at least 4 plus roadsters.... what's the deal in the states????
|
I don't know, but maybe there are too many 2009 left over that they want to sell first
|
I thought on the north east side the 2010's didn't come in til after the winter season?
|
Took delivery of my 2010 on January 9th, but I ordered it back in August. Have seen a couple of roadsters at local dealerships but no 2010 coupes.

I have '10 Tour/Spor/Navi and bought off the lot for about $600 under invoice last month. Not exactly the color I wanted but an OK color. Probably my 3rd choice.
Don't know what kind of deal you can get ordering. |
Took delivery of my 2010 on Jan 7th. Platinum Graphite, Sports Package, a/t, illuminated kickplates. My husband works at the dealership so we got employee pricing.

I was looking for a 6MT Platinum Graphite, Touring, Sport, Nav but none to be found in the area, so I ended up ordering one for $100 over invoice. Now comes the agonizing wait...
|

yea I'm not sweating the price. I just hate the fact I have to wait a couple months for it. I wanna drive it already :driving:
|
I just got confirmation that my order will get built! I'm expecting June delivery, but secretly hoping May. Touring 6M Carbon Silver (aka Platinum Graphite), Persimmon, Sport + Nav.
Can't wait! I'm driving a 2000 VW Golf GLS 1.8T, so I'm looking forward to more than double the horsepower! And just a touch more sex appeal! ;) |
Quote:
|
Hey - my Golf is still a hot piece of metal! Or at least when I leave it out in the sun it can get pretty warm. ;)
|
Quote:
Well, as far as the appeal goes, see how many chicks come up to you and chat in the VW and then try it in the Z. Hehe, the VW might be hot (even when NOT in the sun ;)) but the Z oozes sex. |

I'm about to place the exact same order: Touring 6M Platinum Graphite, Persimmon, Sport + Nav. Can you tell me how much you paid and what $$ they gave you on your trade? Tks |

I'm going to sell my car privately to try and get a bit more dough. |
Just ordered a Tour+Sport+Nav for invoice+ $500 ($38k or so). Although I was a bit taken back as their invoice with everything was a good $1200 more than what edmunds said it was. Is their a reason for that? Oh well now the waiting begins...
|
Quote:
Needless to say I pointed it out and they took it off. All the numbers checked out after that. Make sure you also include the destination charge which is like $720 I think. |

The funny thing is when i first talked to the salesman he was like these cars sell pretty fast and we cant discount them at all and thats a $45k car + TTL. When i mentioned that other ppl were buying them at or below invoice he went to get his mgr, and sure enough he came back with the invoice pricing saying he could get me the car for that price. |

Hold on, so 1-2 months to get confirmation? THEN 3-4 months of waiting?

Here's my long story: GRRR. Apparently I only *thought* I bought my new Z Maybe their are more production runs for cars destined for the US. But no matter what you'll need a little patience! (says the guy who'll barley be able to contain himself for the next several months) |
I don't know how it is in Canada, but here is an order options sheet to help people understand.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4002/...a62e9cc0_b.jpg So if you look top middle left(Vehicle Information) you see and Order #, that is how you know it's secured Then below that is the Ordered on Date, so this on was ordered on 2/04/2010 Now if you look to the Right of that is Says Production Month : 3/2010 Then Below the Order on Date a few lines down you See ETA : 5/10 So once ordered 3 months Once built 2 months to arrive. Hope that helps everyone understand a little bit. |
Where in Ottawa did you buy your Z? I'm originally from Nepean :)
I can't believe they sell for over $50K there! Canadian taxes are a killer... Quote:
|
Thanks Fuzz. I ordered mine the 21st. should i have heard from the dealer yet. they said expect it in june, but do they typically call you to say 'hey we placed the order?' should i assume they haven't placed the order since they haven't said so? i'm not worried about waiting, i'm just worried about having nothing but a piece of paper in 3 months
|

I grew up in Nepean too! I went to Merivale High School. Good times. Even if I could negotiate them down to Dealer Invoice ($42,214), taxes and all the rest still would have nudged it right up to $50K! At least that's fully loaded with all the goodies. Expensive, yes - but of all the cars I was looking at, this is only car I can afford which really makes me feel like I'm not compromising. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is pretty good bang for the buck, but it's just not in the same league in my opinion. Pretty much every other car I was looking at you either needed to lay down some serious coin to feel like you weren't compromising (S4, S5, M3) or you couldn't get manual transmission (IS350). WRX STI caught my eye, but it just doesn't have the sex appeal. So I'm stoked to get my hands on my zed! (relax, yanks, 'zed' is an inner joke to a fellow Canuck) |

Hope that helps you. |
I went in to my dealer in North San Diego yesterday prepared to order a roadster, white with wine int. & top. They had already contacted Nissan who told the dealer they had already "used up" their allocation of wine interiors, which they are "limiting" production on, whatever that means. So they said wait until March and then order. How ridiculous is that? They have a ready customer, dealer wanting to order, and they say call us next month! What would have been the harm in taking the order and putting me on a list? It makes me think they are making up an excuse for some other reason they don't want to disclose. The dealer didn't really get it either. (out of wine seats??)
Meanwhile we have Robert Nash posting here on 2/22 that Nissan wants to increase market share and that we can get a VPP claim number and buy at employee pricing. If they want to ramp up sales why do they make ordering so hard? Reading this thread, its like they have a gauntlet for the customer - hardly any roadsters in inventory - then create obstacles to ordering. Sounds like they are trying to emulate BMW. If there was some inventory out there we could buy a car today instead of three+ months from now. Call Jerry, its bizzarro-world. |

Thanks. i spoke to my dealer yesterday. he said they place the order on march fourth. they have 2 dealerships and he said between the two of them they should have allocation for mine. I'm just paranoid until i get a 100% that its being ordererd. Then again i will probably be worried that they'll put the wrong transmission in or something. I guess nothing's 100% until its in my driveway. |
they really do need more inventory. argh!!
|
Jeff, If they put in the order mar 4th, and they get the allocation, whatever that means, how long do they estimate before the car arrives at the dealership?
