Thumbs down Dealers in So Cal won't let me Order a 370Z!!!

Has anyone else had this same experience? I wanted to get a White one with Touring and Sport Package, and Persimmon leather.

Oh.... forgot to mention. One dealer explained the situation a little more: he said that although they can "order" one for you...they will not be guaranteed to get it...and they still need a deposit!

I am looking for exact color as yours with 6MT and sport package. My local deal is willing to order one for me but we have not agreed on the price yet. The order would arrive around April if I placed the order this month.

The dealers I am dealing are willing to consider an offer below MSRP. I have to see how much the dealers are willing to let go before placing the order.

I went to Miller Nissan and told them I'm ordering mine because I don't want the Odo to read more than 1 mile when I pick it up. The salesman didn't argue with me at all on that. I figured ordering the Z wouldn't be a problem.

He also didn't say anything about the fact that I said "If I see it has been driven at all, I'm going to walk out on the deal. I don't want salesman, customers, porters, mechanics, or even Jesus himself to take that car out on the road. I don't care what the reasons are, I will not accept the car at all if this is the case. Pull it into the parking spot from the delivery truck and don't touch it until I get here."

By the way, the reason I say this is because I used to work for GM and I know that when ever new cars came in (like the 2005 Z06 when it first came out) the salesman hot-rodded the crap out of the cars before selling them. One of my friends who was a sales man at a dealership said that him and one other salesman when to the GM powertain plant and picked up 2 brand new Z06 Corvettes, and spent the next 10 minutes peeling wheel all the way to the dealership. The salesman at the Nissan dealership didn't deny that it happens there too. So no, I'm not being paranoid. It's no different from underwear IMO. I want to be the first and ONLY person to wear my underwear.

Did you order the White/persimmon color? How much the dealer quoted you?

So has anyone actually ordered a 370Z from the factory???

BTW...if you are in the Los Angeles please avoid Universal City Nissan like the devil. I had the worst experience there trying to order mine (he led me to believe I would never be able to order one from the factory). The guy lied about absolutely everything, I'm not even sure if "Greg" was his real name. He said the economy will not affect 370Z sales and they were asking 5 grand over MSRP for the red one they had on the lot!

Not to mention people who come in to test drive them.

I was told by a dealership that the new Z will have at least 15-17 miles on the odo from manufacturer testing and driving the car in and out of the port. Anything more than that, it was driven by the dealership.

Hrmmm... I don't know. That sounds strange to me. We've bought lots of new cars from Infiniti and Nissan and never had that experience.

I'll talk to the sales rep at Nissan when I go back next week.

UPDATE: I talked to a new dealer near Santa Barbara, CA and they said they can order it for me. For the most part, they seemed very honest and I will probably order from them if the price is right.

AGAIN, UNIVERSAL CITY NISSAN IS TERRIBLE. DON'T GO THERE.

Hey crash not to burst your bubble, I understand that you want your car to read 1 mile on the odometer but that is not likely to ever happen since all cars will come from the factory with around 3-5 miles on it. I work at a Nissan dealer here in louisiana. You do not have an option not to have the techs to not drive the vehicle either shockin? The reason why they have to, is because there are fuses and relays that have to be installed to the vehicle once it is delivered to the dealer. Called the PDI (pre-delivery-inspection) In which your radio fuses, heater and tire pressure systems are all reseted by the techs, as an example to reset the tire pressure sensor you have to get the car to a steady 40mph cruise before it goes off.. So cut your salesman some slack because if you put a deposit on that car and wait 2-3 months to get it I m pretty sure he wont let anyone touch it, since he doesnt get paid on that deal until the vehicle is delivered.

Enjoy your Z and know that the only person that drove it before was a highly qualified Nissan Technitian

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll have no choice to accept a few miles on it. But if they don't call me when that car gets off the truck so NOBODY drives it, I'm passing it up. The salesman understands my POV, so I'm sure that he'll let me know. LOL

Although, I have to say that I am glad about the PDI stuff, actually. I like quality control when it's good! I'm coming from 9 years of driving GMs.
