I think I got a killer deal...
and if I didn't please be kind in breaking the news to me. I'm only sorry I did not think to look for a Z forum last Friday to get some other opinions.
Last week as I was driving home I saw a 2004 350Z at the Hyundai dealership. Pulled in, went for a test drive and they wanted me to take it home and who am I to say no? I got it down to the price I thought it was worth but hubby was afraid we were buying a problem. I finally agreed that he was right (initially I was not rational because I've wanted a Z car for 40 years and here's one with the right price and never mind the ongoing cost of a car that age and a car I know little about!) I wanted to read more about the 2004 Z on the Hyundai used car website and what pops up? It's a 2015 Sport Man in Pearl White. Car fax says it was purchased 2/13 at a local Nissan dealership but by 4/13 it apparently was traded in at Hyundai with 2740 miles on it. So, the dealership offered to give me the car Sat morning and drive it to Monday morning. It was stickered at well over $32,000 (not quite my price range) but again, who am I to say no? We had it on the parkway, a nice curvy road and in residential areas. :driving: Monday morning- time to turn in the car or make a deal. I started a Z car fund in 2001 but life happens and other things take priority but still, some money down available. My husband and I agreed on a number that would work for us. Without making this any longer, they named their best price, I named what I will willing to give along with the terms (cash, trade, finance) and the deal was made in no time at all. So, I got 2015 Sport with 2740 miles on it (okay, a few more miles since I drove all I could those 2 days) for $27,000.00 even. Gave them a Rogue that was going out of the 5 yr warranty pretty much the same day, some cash, added an extended warranty for 70,000/7 years and financed the small balance for a minimal monthly payment at nominal interest rate. So, how did I do? |
You waited 40 years for a Z. Now you have a nearly brand new one. I would say you did pretty damn well  Now go :driving:
|
Hell yeah....you scored! Congratulations!!!!
|
Hey congrats man! For me it took like 6 months to really feel like the car was actually mine. Every time I started to drive it I felt like I was in someone else's car. But when I get in her now I feel like I'm home!
Do yourself a favor and change the exhaust it will make you feel like you have a mini Ferrari. Sent from my Nexus 6 |
You did good! Congrats!!!!
|
Very good deal. Congrats!

I think you got a good deal!
I bought my 14 Sport Touring with 4K miles on it for 31K. |
Go girl!!! Way to wheel em and deal em!!! Great deal and awesome car. Welcome and congrats!!!!

Okay, the used dealer website described the car as "Sport" and I just found out it's a base with the added spoiler. Yes, I feel stupid
I didn't look closely at the tires and after I got the car home, I see that the tires were the Y-rated tires and not the W-rated tires. This made me look at everything closer. Of course the description page has been taken down from the dealers website. Any ideas on how to follow up? |

I found the cached page!

Also, you might want to double check that your history goes back that far before you waste a lot of time searching for a cached page that was automatically deleted. |
Looking at the paperwork/contract. Car is listed as
2DR CPE S Translation? (Would "S" be for Sport?) |
Any chance the dealer ran a newspaper advertisement which included your car?

Yeah, I would definitely go back and talk to a manager. At the very least.
They probably aren't obligated to give you any money back (though you might trick a stupid manager into it). But they would definitely have to take the car back if you put up a fuss. Problem is you got the car at a pretty good price either way. So it's probably not worth you giving it back and having to find another one. Hope you at least get something out of it - if you plan to use them for service, try and get a maintenance contract out of the deal. It's a dealer, so just an acknowledgement of the fraudulent advertising would be a win in my book :ugh: :icon17: |
Just read through the thread, OP - I'm assuming you don't have the syncro rev match button near the shift left? You said you got a Manual, right? Still a pretty good deal if you ask me.
I got mine for $26k + TTL, '13 Sport/touring with 20kmiles on it. Had mods on it, though. |

They were "busy" and ask me to come back Monday. Gonna head back now. I have their printout taped to the car. There's 18" wheels on the car and the sticker says 19" or more specifically: 19" x 9" Fr/19" x 10" Rr RAYS Forged Alloy Inc. super lightweight |
Quote:
If you have that print out, at least you may score a set of 19" Rays from them, it's not going to be the full Sport Package, but definitely they wrongly advertised the car, so they are liable. Good luck! |

Anecdote......... My last car prior to my Z was a used 2012 BMW 3 Series Sedan I bought back in Sep of 2012. The dealer advertised it as though it had Premium Package (which retails for $3100) for a sale price of $37500. I negotiated a price with them which was a steal, $34000 (new they were roughly $47k in with the options it had), and then upon arrival to the dealership (4 hour drive) discovered it did not have Premium Package. I confidently told them I would buy it if they took off the MSRP of $3100 for Premium Package expecting them to counter with $1.5k or $2k which I would have definitely considered. They just said yes and sold me the car for $30900. Of course, this was prior to any transaction so different than your situation but the point is, you have the ball in your court because they misrepresented the situation AND have already taken your vehicle in on a trade. They may be unable to reverse it. Go in there heartbroken about the SRM and wheels and "deception" and go get the deal you thought you did. :tiphat: |
Here's just one of the cached pages. Judge for yourself:
Used 2015 Nissan 370Z For Sale | Toms River NJ |
Oh my God cant believe Im reading this. One wonderful deal turned out to be a farce from the dealer.
The only thing I can find is you can charge them for the 19's ray wheels. As its the only one listed in the spec. The argument would be is they would say sport which means sports car and not sports package! Definitely they misrepresented the car in the ads. As you have said even for a base Z you still got it lower than the market price. Thats another argument they might use against your claim. But yes I hate to get the one that you didn't like. Update us what the dealer would say when you come back and see them. |

I love the car but it's definitely false advertising and it's in more than 1 place. |
I've added a lot of excitement to the forum since joining ;-)
Seriously, I really appreciate all of your replies. Anyone want to venture a guess on the value of the 19"RAYS forged alloy wheels Y-rated would be worth in comparison to the 18" Black-finish aluminum-alloy wheels Yokohama Advan Sport W-rated tires? Looks like RAYS are about $352.00 |
The last time I asked the sports 19 Rays Bnew at a Nissan dealership for a 09 to 12 models its about 4t plus for a set without tires.
Used you can buy a set over here at the for sale section 1k for a decent one. But yours is 2015 I would have no idea. Have you already told them about your claim of "Deceitful Advertising"? |
Quote:
"Deceitful" will be our next conversation. I'm not done. At minimum they need to make good on the wheel package in the form of the tires as advertised or price. |
Quote:
Hubby and I are discussing the possible outcomes. At minimum the tires and the rims Cash refund Reporting the fraudulent advertising to State Department of Consumer Affairs and I have a way to get the complaint noticed. |

Demand MSRP for the wheels and tires. Should be at least a couple grand for your troubles.
Reading the description for the car is just humorous. They practically advertise that the PW paint is so good looking that birds don't even want to $hit on it :rofl2: :shakes head: |

"This 2015 Nissan 370Z Sport is not like every other 370Z."
With this statement placed on the advertised info. A good lawyer can make use of this statement against them to define. It seems they defined it more than something a base Z. |

Excellent point! Many thanks. |

Are you saying $4000.00? |
The only deal breaker for me would be synchro rev match! Everything else can be upgraded (You may be even better off that way if you plan on modding up a bit. Ive not seen anybody retrofit synchro rev match in, but maybe the dealer can do it if pressed.
1 Oem sport VLSD to Quaife LSD (way worth the effort $1500) 2 OEM sport brakes to wilwood or Z1 big brake upgrade (better than stock sport $1500) 3 Synchro Rev Match to.... um... learn to heal toe shift! (free! Yay) 4. Bose to Anything but Bose!!! ($???) Etc, etc, Good luck, welcome, and congrats on a very cool new car! |
