No oil cooler. :gtfo2:
|
Damn under 40k tho? That really F's with my head...I love that car in motion, it really has a striking look. I mean - strap on an oil cooler and it sounds like a mini-GT3.
|
I'm really loving this car. The review mentions a stiff ride, but I don't think that will be an issue. Edmunds said the same thing about the Nismo 350Z, but that car is just fine for daily driving IMO. Much more compliant than a typical Z with aftermarket suspension.

No oil cooler or diff cooler  that blows.
|
The lack of an oil-cooler is a concern, but any person who brings their car to the track with any regularity will make the appropriate upgrades. Brake pads, oil cooler....tires, suspension, LSD....
|
I know the rear spoiler creates downforce, (they are saying 150lbs at 70mph) but how does that effect 1/4 mile times and acceleration? does the downforce create drag, or does it decrease drag, effectively lowering 1/4 mile times?? never understood that part.

This will create more drag compared to a stock 370Z and lower 1/4 mile times. The extra weight of the body parts will also negatively effect 1/4 mile times, but then again the car does have extra HP. |
I like it even without the oil cooler. they are only a couple hundred bucks and can be installed easily if you are that serious about tracking the car
DAN |
I doubt there is extra weight! All body kit manufactures - take note! - thats how you do it! They pulled off something that looks so much more aggressive and lower but in reality they maintain virtually the same clearance! Those bumpers are probably lighter for all we know...
I do agree with the drag part! The car as a whole is fantastic but it really isnt better against a lightly modified standard Z...Then again you dont have to do much to that car and its someone's mini-GT3 LOL |
I'd expect the Nismo to likely be the heaviest model.
Clearance should be similar to a regular 370Z, but the front bumper looks to extend out a bit which makes it more easier to scrape. I think if someone went all aftermarket, they can easily get more performance than the Nismo model, but for the price and everything turn-key, it's hard to beat. |
Danny, I fully agree... I'm always amazed that we see so many body kits but few if any mention the downforce benefit and clearance impacts... it's the last thing I'll do, but I am willing to invest some in aerodynamics
|
anyone find out which magazine wrecked it during their review yet ?
|
Love the body kit! ill have to upgrade once it comes out for sell!!
|
how come the nismo doesn't have the rear fog light. thats lame they could have easily taken it out of the regular 370 but god forbid an automaker lose a dollar
|
I'll take the front bumper, rear spoiler, and wheels please.
Thanks |

yup i knew it was one of them
|
In the video at 23-27sec, it looks like that's a Nismo 350Z. If they did a fast lap of each car, it'd interesting to see how they compared.

good call  i didnt notice it was missing the butthole:excited:

I know it's been said before, but this car is begging for a 300+lb diet...

^The road is likely not level, but from those pics, the Nismo looks to have higher ride height....
|
I'd swap out my rear valence with the nismo's. Get rid of that godawful *******. At the same time, I think I'd rather have my regular ol' 370Z everywhere else.
...Wonder how much you can see out the rear of the Nismo?? |
Other than the front bumper, I don't feel I missed out on ANYTHING when I bought my non nismo Z. Also 150lbs of downforce at 70 is weak. At least I hope its balanced.
Maybe a bigger higher rear wing + a better diffuser + an adjustable front splitter + canaards would make the downforce acceptable for a dedicated track car. Also its silly you guys are worried about drag for your quarter mile times....fold your mirrors back lol this car isnt doing 200mph... |
No thanks. Big customer complaints not heard by Nissan. Big No-No in my book.
|
glad i didnt wait for the NISMO edition. All I want is the spoiler. come on nissan! no oil cooler? on a NISMO?
|
I waited for the Nismo to drop before deciding what to do. I have made up my mind to buy a stock Z and tune it myself.
The Nismo does not totally suck, but no thanks. |
No biggie really..Typical 1st year/model problems and oversights. Happens with most cars. Just a longer wait. As for the cheap lsd and sparse options etc? You can thank the Nissan bean counters for that.. :shakes head:

150lb of downforce at 70 mph is A LOT! Usually it's around 90+ that you actually start to see downforce on other cars and at 70mph that is impressive. You do feel it on the track at 70 mph. Trust me it works. :) |
I may be interested in the nismo rear valance/diffuser... Generally, I'd like to see the vendors start producing some aero that is more functional than flash... including splitters and some front ducting kits for the brakes... bring it on !
|
Im pretty disappointed about the oil cooler but oh well Im sure they'll add it in the later years. Im just gonna add the rear spoiler onto my Z when i get and ill be satisfied.

Edmonds reviewing cars is like my grandmother stating that one day maybe I'll be able to afford finishing my ceiling in my loft apartment. They don't know **** from shinola.
