Finicky Brightness settings for instrument panel?

The two times when they were not working at all I tried adjusting them while on all the headlight settings, parking/auto/on... with no luck. Seems to be working fine since.

Seems to be working fine since. I will have to try and see if it lets me adjust in full daylight.
