Mercedes also has a 3.5L version from what I recall. I wonder why Nissan would go with the 3.0L variation, aside from the cost, of course.

Cost & to make sure the Z & GT-R stay separated as much as possible.
If the Z is going to get the TT engine then it needs to be a lower displacements. The 3.5L is to close to the 3.8L in the GT-R, get to find out the new GT-R motor soon hopefully as it will be in their LeMans car.

This is what everyone has been hoping for if it happens ( I don't want to say anything definitive and jinx it). Factory turbo'ed with 335i type tuning gains in a sexy (hopefully) Z body.

What confirmation does anyone have that it's a Mercedes engine?

I had hoped for a bit more top end, but that peak torque figure, and the RPM it's achieved at, sounds mm mmm good to me

The 335's top end isn't that high stock either but we all know they are super tuneable for big gains.

The 370 strongly resembles the 240/60/80 already?

Did you mean 280zx? In that case the main thing I'd want from that would be t-tops!! Man, that'd be an instant buy from me, having t-tops or a targa.

SR-S30-03_1Yhe_0.jpg

I know is old chassis... but if Nissan did something like this... obviously modern like a few brands are already doing... im going to throw my money no matter what I wish here in PR i can find a S30 Z but over here that car is very very rare...

Well if ford can put a turbo V6 in the new GT than a merc twin turbo V6 will be just fine for the next gen Z.
