Default Bose Sound System

OK

I recently took a 1+ hr demo in a Touring/Sport 6MT.

Heh, never even turned on the sound, I was having too much fun. Is it any good? The wife has a Bose in her Benz SUV and it sounds awesome.

Honestly bruh... I took 4 test drives in the Z. The 2 least things I liked was the bose stereo
Secondly was that grossly designed left gauge pod. I don't kno why they just didn't leave it anolog.
I opted out of buying a touring package on the strength of the radio. I kno that radio must be at least 25% of the touring price. (App. $900) for that kinda money I can be 2/3 into a serious audiophile system.

I found the bass to be weak and at its highest volume couldn't drown out the engine noise.
Not that I have a problem with the sound of the engine.
I just like the stereo to be louder than my engine.

Not a big audiophile but I can definitely feel that it's inferior compared to all the cars in my family.

The stock stereo system that came in my 1998 Dodge Durango is 1000% better than the Bose...although it does its job, I can't believe that Nissan puts that piece of krap in the 370Z. Hell, the stereo in my daughter's RAV4 sounds better...

I think you guys are being overly harsh. Regular radio sounds 'thin' on the Bose stereo but high quality MP3 and CDs sound very good. There is plenty of base as well. Will it replace a huge woofer box in the back? No.

Saying it won't get loud enough to overcome the engine noise is just bogus.

the base system is the worst radio EVER put into a car.
a boom box from wal-mart put in the rear hatch would sound better.

Spearfish, I think yours is the only comment worth agreeing with. Bose reputation is quite high, and as I said, the one in my wife's Benz is awesome. I think another trip to the dealer is in order with a CD or two. What a great way to rustle a second test drive

"Quite high" based on what??

Bose's marketing department?

Don't be a lemming, read both of the below links. Even Lou Reed has an opinion ...

Bose BLOWS.

What about Bose? Part 1 : Home Theater Blog | Home Theater News & Reviews
What about Bose? Part 2 : Home Theater Blog | Home Theater News & Reviews

"July 2004 issue of MONEY has an evaluation of speakers by Lou Reed listening to his own (and other) music.

He loved the Klipsch, liked the MartinLogan (except they didn't work at high
volume), thought the B&W over-priced average speakers, dismissed the
Infinity's as "so so" but with little bass, and hated the Bose (no midrange
and he'd pay money NOT to hear them).

I wonder if Bose will sue him and Money."

PLEASE do me a favor and don't link a blog from "some guy who used to work in a high-end audio store" and pass it off as something worthwhile. And while I love Lou Reed, the link didn't work and he was robably commenting on the 201's or something.

Next time, link me something like this, written by people who actually know WTF they are talking about.

Stereophile: Bose 901 loudspeaker

The article has very good things to say about the 901 speaks as well as bad things.

Nonetheless, calling me a lemming while you are essentially acting like a "bose sucks it's all marketing" lemming was pretty funny.

I agree with the poster who said that a car, especially one like a Z, is the worst place to expect sound an audiophile would drool over. And Spearfish was dead-on when he said that it won't replace a huge woofer box in the back.

My post wasn't to compare it with a high-end system that's gonna set me back another $2000. Besides, every time I hear one of you Gen-F*ck dickheads driving around listening to horsesh*t like Kanye West at 120 decibels on a high-end system I crack up.

I had very good Focals and an MTX amp in my S2000 and frankly the Bose sounds just as good. Granted, it does distort some at maximum volume but I never need it that loud and it has no problem drowning out road noise it that's what you want. I have no problem with the base. Bose has always taken a different approach with loudspeakers and has done a great deal research in the area. They never test flat but usually sound pretty good.
