Bose Sound System

OK

I recently took a 1+ hr demo in a Touring/Sport 6MT.

Heh, never even turned on the sound, I was having too much fun. Is it any good? The wife has a Bose in her Benz SUV and it sounds awesome.

Honestly bruh... I took 4 test drives in the Z. The 2 least things I liked was the bose stereo
Secondly was that grossly designed left gauge pod. I don't kno why they just didn't leave it anolog.
I opted out of buying a touring package on the strength of the radio. I kno that radio must be at least 25% of the touring price. (App. $900) for that kinda money I can be 2/3 into a serious audiophile system.

I found the bass to be weak and at its highest volume couldn't drown out the engine noise.
Not that I have a problem with the sound of the engine.
I just like the stereo to be louder than my engine. :)

Not a big audiophile but I can definitely feel that it's inferior compared to all the cars in my family.

The stock stereo system that came in my 1998 Dodge Durango is 1000% better than the Bose...although it does its job, I can't believe that Nissan puts that piece of krap in the 370Z. Hell, the stereo in my daughter's RAV4 sounds better...

I think you guys are being overly harsh. Regular radio sounds 'thin' on the Bose stereo but high quality MP3 and CDs sound very good. There is plenty of base as well. Will it replace a huge woofer box in the back? No.

Saying it won't get loud enough to overcome the engine noise is just bogus.

JoeD 10-07-2009 09:41 PM

LOL...if you guys think the Bose is that bad, I don't wanna hear what you think about the Base stereo. :)

Spearfish, I think yours is the only comment worth agreeing with. Bose reputation is quite high, and as I said, the one in my wife's Benz is awesome. I think another trip to the dealer is in order with a CD or two. What a great way to rustle a second test drive :driving: :icon18:

I had very good Focals and an MTX amp in my S2000 and frankly the Bose sounds just as good. Granted, it does distort some at maximum volume but I never need it that loud and it has no problem drowning out road noise it that's what you want. I have no problem with the base. Bose has always taken a different approach with loudspeakers and has done a great deal research in the area. They never test flat but usually sound pretty good.

The Bose system is more than enough to keep me from spending 2-3 times as much on a custom system.... Plus the xm radio is a nice addition for at least a few months.;)

Better than a number of OEM systems; lacks in areas (like when you turn it up, it drops out frequencies to prevent blowing speakers), but can't hold a candle to aftermarket systems in every category imaginable.

bluetooth is cool, I set up my new cell phone with it, and the voice recognition does OK. person on the other end says it echos a bit.

Also, Bose is not awesome. Hooray for marketing...

The Bose Stereo is ok for the Z could it have been better sure, but why do most people buy a Z? it's not the stereo so if your happy as is fine and if not upgrade it's your car. we don't need Testosterone in the thread so discuss it civilized.
