Z34 Secret/Unknown Features

So over at Fj Cruiser forums we had a thread where people would share features that are not commonly known to everyone. I searched and didn't find anything but if this is a duplicate let me know.

Either way, I'll start us off.

Did you know if you hold your unlock button for a few seconds it rolls your windows down.

onzedge 12-10-2014 07:12 AM

A feature I have had experience with is the one that randomly causes the steering lock mechanism to fail, stranding you.

Like we say in the software business -- "It is not a bug. It is an undocumented feature".

Nargrakhan 12-10-2014 07:18 AM

Or how about the one where a "track ready NISMO" has oil overheating and brakes failing when you actually drive it on the track.

More awesome features! ;)

LostSol 12-10-2014 07:41 AM

If you turn right really hard your car shuts off!!

onzedge 12-10-2014 07:55 AM

If you hold the horn button down for 10 seconds with your foot on the brake, it activates the lumbar massage feature.

RicerX 12-10-2014 08:27 AM

Thread has potential.

Literally lol'd at this...

If you are at a busy intersection with a green light or in stop-and-go traffic and you put the car in neutral (parking brake on if on a slope) and use the brake pedal to signal SOS with your brake lights, the car behind you will automatically start honking its horn to alert the authorities. If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying.

Does it roll them up as well?

Used to have this feature on my benz 400E and it was great when you forget to roll the windows up but you're already out of the car locking it up.

You can raise the windows by inserting the key hidden in your fob into the key lock in the door and turn and hold it.

This thread will soon turn into Mayhem.

njobe89 12-10-2014 01:23 PM

did you know that, oh hai, look a piece of candy

mishuko 12-10-2014 01:31 PM

if you have a touring model there is actually a special combination of flicking the heat controls that will eject your annoying passenger.

D:H-OFF-H-OF-L-OFF-L
P: L-OFF-L-OFF-H-OFF-H

then flick your cruise control and say 'BON VOYAGE!'

this only works if you're moving above 100km/h ~60mph though.

dislimn 12-10-2014 01:47 PM

For 7AT you can probably put it in reverse while driving. In my old old Accord this would put the trans in neutral but enable the reverse lights

If you don't put money in your mailbox once a month to Nissan, someone will come at night and take your Z away.

This thread is awesome, I was hooked after the first few posts. I think the only "special feature" that is unknown by many is the hidden area in the center console.

The window down thing is cool, but I have fallen asleep in bed ontop of my fob, and came outside in the rain to my car with its windows down.

or maybe not using the 'gtr' fluids...

Nargrakhan 12-10-2014 03:35 PM

All Z34's have a built-in law enforcement alert system. Legal calls it "going 15 over," and applying this minimum rate across longer distances increases law enforcement attention. If remaining continuous after law enforcement arrival, it engages a secondary feature that alerts journalistic specialists to documentation your situation and bring it to the attention of the general public. Please be aware this service may subject the driver to utilization fees outside of the Nissan payment plan.

kenchan 12-10-2014 03:42 PM

attracts greasy ugly doods...

onzedge 12-10-2014 03:48 PM

If you are in second gear and above 40 mph, simultaneously set the wipers to "high" and then press and hold the rear defroster button.

This activates Kenchanmode.

It is awesome.

Nola we love you man!
Congrats on your long dream Z!
Dont get offended we are all F*ck tards but believe me we are the BEST car enthusiast when it come to the Z!

Ok one feature that I found out while the engine is running on a full stop, you double tap the start button and it will shut the engine but leave your radio on. Seriously!

If you double tap it 3x a recording in Japanese would say "Kuruma anata kuso ttarekara nukedasu!

Then you go to google to know its translation! Lol

Zoren 370 12-10-2014 03:59 PM

Did you get the translation Master Onze?

Pintsize725 12-10-2014 04:51 PM

If you let it be known that you are a female driver, every car will try to take you out or race you.

Pintsize725 12-10-2014 04:52 PM

Your horn can only be heard by other Z drivers apparently.

enkei2k 12-10-2014 04:52 PM

The Z somehow automatically makes female's panties drop and guy's break their necks.

onzedge 12-10-2014 04:54 PM

I feel sorry for the OP.

I do not think the thread took the direction he wanted.

onzedge 12-10-2014 04:54 PM

Never mind. No I don't.

kenchan 12-10-2014 04:55 PM

my Z melts in the rain...

OK, for a serious answer...

I didn't know about the gauge effects on start up until after a year and a half of ownership. I didn't read the manual.
