'Chirp' when shifting into 5th gear?

It's quite possible that lack of lube is the problem and it's fairly easy to get to the parts inside the cabin. If the problem is outside, you'll need a lift or ramps. I'd try some heavy grease (lithium?). It will probably be a big help to look at the FSM (link in my sig) - procedures to R&R console and lots of pretty drawings of the shifter mechanism.

Edit: If it a piece of plastic that is making the noise, I'd use Teflon or graphite spray.
