What other cars are on par with the 370z?

the 5.0 is supposed to handle really well. It's pretty big though, so it might not feel like it's handling as well as it is.

135i or 335i (m-sport, just for the better looks)

i just say that because my buddy has a fully loaded chipped 09 335i (m-sport) and that thing is pretty fun... but he did drop 45k for a used one that had 35k miles on it. You can think of it as this, the extra 10 grand you save from buy a Z can be put toward boosting it. You would then have definitely put your Z in a whole new league than the BMW for the same price. Just a thought.

as far as the 370 vs the ap2 s2k id go with the z all day i owned an 07 ap2 with a bunch of nice high end mods sus , engine , hard top , wheels and tires . even with the bigger 2.2 the ap2 still lacks low end performance . i say as far as a daily no way would i daily an s2k again . also as far as fun factor the s2k is not a sliding car they do handle very well but there no where near as fun to whip around as the z if you slide an s2k around it will bite you sooner or later . its funny before i even knew the cayman s was compared to the z as far as in the same class . the first thing i said when i drove the 370 was that the way it handles ( point and shoot and a very easy to correct and control when sliding ) was that it reminded me of the cayman . i though very hard and i drove a lot of cars before i bought the z and as far as price , quality , fun factor , cost to own i couldnt find anything else i liked as much .if i had to pick one thing about the z i didnt like was that its not a targa top . i know the new fords are supposed to basically beat the z in everything but i could never own a mustang . if i were seeking a car a faster and better handling albeit in a higher price range the c7 z51 package is a bad *** car and dollar for dollar there is nothing 2 times the price that will hang . none of the other cars in the class were worth the money in my opinion . s2k to loud inside , sus that will beat ur kidneys in on a road trip and a motor that lack normal driving power i always felt like i had to rip on it every time i pulled out on a major road . frs / brz very fun to drive but my civic si would leave it in the dust and the interior was very cheap . cayman s i like the cayman but i wouldnt want to maint bill to own one and there a pita to work on plus we all know that german quality and reliability . i have to say im very happy with my decision to go with the z . i love it , the woman loves it especially when we take trips ( nice and smooth but still handles amazing ) , the son really loves it ( hes 4 ) and every time we get in it all i hear from him is go fast and or make it wag its tail lol . if it wasnt for the z ida prolly spent more and just bought a c6 zo6 and called it a day .

Camaro ss 1LE. Drove one a little bit ago and it is a very good car. Its large but handling wise it has a ton of grip, motor doesn't stop pulling, and very strong brakes. Its ready for the track without mods which is a nice bonus. With a few mods, they make boosted 370z power. Its definitely not the best looking car, but it looks pretty good for a muscle car/pony car and is very capable driver.

The 370z handles like crap, I know because I drove a 280z on three tires.

On a road cource is all I care about, and for that the Boss302 would be quicker.

Better looking - Not much, but subjective. Maybe a Porsche Cayman, but a Cayman is also kind of wimpy looking.

More fun to drive - Not much. A Cayman would be better probably until it breaks down.

I crossed shopped 335i's and 2011+ 5.0s. I quickly passed on the BMW as the examples in my price range weren't nearly as nice as the Z. Love the Mustang's performance but I'm not one to drive a car I see 40 of in a 20 minute drive to work (you can also apply this to the BMW).

As others have mentioned, S2k, Z4, Cayman, and FRS/BRZ are popular competitors as well

I feel the Z is the best all-around choice for what I was looking for. YMMV
