I'm not rich obviously. In addition the Z is a VERY niche car. 2 seat coupe. So if you stick with that setup, and throw out used, you can forget German or Italian for that $, so for $50K with 400+hp, yea why not? On a side not Hyundai has pretty strong rumors of a beast to replace my current Genesis. Could be a legit Z fighter. Competition is always a good thing.

the rumor about the genny that always interested me was them throwin that 5.0L V8 from the sedan version in the coupe.

other than that and major body tweaks the genny just does nothing for me personally. I drove the 3.8 tack edition when they first came out. nice car but just feels like it's missing things.

brucelidat 02-17-2015 03:24 PM

If it looks anything like the current Gen or the way they seem to like to over-style things and add curves and vents and whatnot everywhere, no thanks. We'll see if they make a good complete sports car as opposed to a sporty-looking car with good hp numbers. If they do, great, but we'll see. It takes sometime and experience to get the little things down. The current Gen was a good start for them at least.

yea, i agree with you and FPenvy. Im under no illusions the Z is a better sports car. Its part of the reason I sold my 370 for 3.8. I was willing to give up a few ticks in the performance dept to a superior GT car. Which it is. Hyundai did a HELL of a job with the '13+ GC. The next iteration could really nail it. Either way, I have a $50K cap limit. Im very interested in the Z35 obviously, along with what Hyundai might do. Perhaps Toyota gets a kick *** Supra out or similar by '17? KIA Stinger too? There MIGHT be a 3 or 4 options for this RWD, coupe, 400+HP sports cars for $50K and under. To be honest, even if I could afford a C7 the way I want it, Id be bummed its not a Z06 so I just cant get a Vette, cant afford the one I want.

brucelidat 02-17-2015 04:08 PM

I am really hoping the z35 impresses me or that new supra(ft-1) is (perhaps I'm dreaming) in the 50k range.

Firebase99 02-17-2015 04:27 PM

Im curious about this RS FOCUS. AWD, 350HP...Id have to drive the hell out one before I bought it, cuz I just dont see the "feel" being there in that platform, let alone a decent interior. But...

Firebase99 02-17-2015 04:31 PM

Adding more fuel to the fire. My 3.8 GC, yea its not on par with a Z34 in a sports car arena, though its NOT far behind in any aspect. That being said, as a GT, peanut butter leather, NAV, sunroof, hands free everything back seat (never used nor will it be), 350HP, 8 speed auto, monster on the roll and the tech..I can lock, unlock, lights, horn, see where my car is via tracker, start the engine all from my iphone plus Bluelink which works flawlessly and CAN take 87 octane (Mine has never seen it but it can) for $34K OTD. THAT is BANG for the buck. If Hyundai IMPROVES on that...WOW.

Edit: on a side note. Still not impressed with the looks of the GC. From the back I think it's hot, only angle. With my 370 I used to look at it after I parked it, thing is goddamn sexy. Something I rarely do with my GC. I hope they improve on that.

brucelidat 02-17-2015 04:38 PM

I checked in the first gen gen coupe when I was shopping for the Z. I wasn't a fan of the styling and the interior felt very cheap to me. It just didn't feel nice or made me happy to be in it. The second one could be better, but the looks alone kill it for me. I know looks don't affect performance but it's an important part to buying a car. Looking at the Z still makes me smile which more expensive cars like the G and M don't make me do and that has intangible value to it. So the Gen may be a better value, but if it doesn't make me smile, then it's not worth it. I'd rather spend more and be happy then spend less but still a lot and then be dissatisfied. That being said, that's just me. If the Gen makes you smile and happy, then it's all good and a great deal.

I was editing my post as you wrote yours about the styling, and totally agree!! :tiphat:
2nd gen interior is sweet, I think I have pics in my profile, check it out, its not bad for a $30K coupe.

One thing I really hope the next Z has is a great forum and community like this one. This forum is set up better than others i have been on and most of the members are great.

You ain't kiddin' I been shopping for a new sports car and been on many other forums he past few months, I still come and post on this forum, some of the others are horrible, so hostile and not as well setup or moderated. Love this community!

I have a 201 Honda Fit also for driving the dog, carrying people, things, etc. I joined a forum for that but it's so badly set up (and the people there are delusional) that I never go on anymore. Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get sway bars for the 2015 Fit?

Sway bars for a FIT? They make them? lol

brucelidat 02-17-2015 05:40 PM

I don't want power mods or anything crazy, just some sways. They made them for the older models. There were some guys over there thinking 20whp form bolt-ons was realistic from that 1.5 liter engine...pretty ridiculous.

Ahhh...yea, no. Maybe a tune and bolt ons if they exist. Way off topic. lol

brucelidat 02-17-2015 05:57 PM

I meant ridiculous that they believed it, not ridiculous gains.

tag824 02-17-2015 05:57 PM

Infiniti Q60 to show up next year with two Mercedes motors

Firebase99 02-17-2015 05:58 PM

According to that kW it's about 407hp. Another 15 or 20 for the Z35 maybe?

brucelidat 02-17-2015 06:00 PM

and the rumors continue to swirl and grow

brucelidat 02-17-2015 06:02 PM

a turbo v8 in the Z is a bit tough for me to believe, but we'll see what happens

I agree, turbo V8? Ehhhh...not so much. But is it bad? ;-)

brucelidat 02-17-2015 06:10 PM

There's also no guarantee all engine options int he q60 will also be available in the Z. If anything I could see them putting the v8 in the q60 as a carrot to motivate us into the more expensive Infiniti vs the Z. It could be the separation that differentiates them.

tag824 02-17-2015 06:16 PM

Not just a turbo V8, but a 4.7L... also find that hard to believe but I've been surprised before.

brucelidat 02-17-2015 06:20 PM

I am going to continue expecting a 3 liter v6 tt. That seems to be the most realistic scenario. If I am surprised then great (depending on what the surprise is)

tag824 02-17-2015 06:28 PM

Guessing next rumor will say it's powered by this...

Firebase99 02-17-2015 08:23 PM

I'm all VR5.5 TT AT 600 hp, AWD, 3400 pounds, and $47k. Oh, that's the GTR. OK, $37k.

brand new 400+ HP Z for 50k or 2009 GT-R with 30k miles for 50k.......now you're into expense maintenance part of owning the GT-R and wear and tear. plus not knowing how the previous owner treated it is always a factor.

i think that hyundai did a good job on that honestly. all the bells and whistles and it's not over priced.

i just hate those fake hood vents that they have... every time i see them i want to punch the person who made it.

Firebase99 02-18-2015 09:10 AM

Yea, those vents...its a sore spot in GC community. In any event, theres going to be a handful, TOPS, more likely 3 niche sport car coupes to choose from $50K +/- a few grand. The Z, the GC,...ummmm. Ok, two, lol. "Definitely" 2. In quotes cuz nothing is 100% but these are the two most likely. Not sure if thats enough competition. Ill never buy a Camaro, I dont care if it shreds a Turbo S. The only Mustang Id even consider is the the 350GT RS, or whatever its called but way out of my price range I bet. I dont want an M235 either and cant afford an M4. So...Z or GC it is.

you can afford any car you want really... but you might have to sell some body parts and some other things lol

jpkirk 02-18-2015 10:22 AM

I think FP has hinted that ... but it was for a GTR ... different thing all together ...

And FP ... still no!

The top of the line one doesn't look bad. Generally the ones with no nav look aweful in that area.
