2011 m3 coupe or 2015 nismo tech ? , both mt
($43K) 2011 white bmw m3 coupe mt, 30k miles, 4.0l V8 414hp, , fully loaded sports package, convince package, competition package, nav, cold weather package etc ..
It says "This M3 includes factory-backed 50,000 Mile Warranty protection for FREE until the end of 2014" , can this warranty be extended through BMW ? ALSO BMW FACTORY WARRANTY IS 4/50K , BUT WHY IS IT SAYING END OF 2014 WHEN 4 YEAR COMES AT THE END OF 2015 ?? only reason I'm kinda concern with this m3 is that the maintenance is too high on these cars ... or should i get the 2015 white nismo tech new for 44k ? http://images.cars.com/supersized/DM...3/F9897/01.jpg http://images.cars.com/supersized/DM...3/F9897/03.jpg http://images.cars.com/supersized/DM...3/F9897/04.jpg http://images.cars.com/supersized/DM...3/F9897/13.jpg http://images.cars.com/supersized/DM...3/F9897/22.jpg http://images.cars.com/supersized/DM...3/F9897/08.jpg |
Get the Nismo. BMWs break like it's their job.

OP, the reason that M3 is available is that smart people dump their BMWs at 30k miles.

To put BMW money into perspective, I recently fixed up (flipped?) a 90's 740iL with valve cover gaskets, battery, alternator, minor hoses, oil change, spark plugs, 2 or 3 sensors, and a few small parts. Did all the labor myself, bought relatively inexpensive parts. Spent over $2,500. This is an old car with relatively simple/cheap electronics. Most cars that need this sort of minor work cost me around $450.
Hardly apples-to-apples, but for basic high-mileage maintenance this should paint some sort of a picture for you. Even on a bad Z with every common issue being fixed out of warranty, I would wager that you would still be spending less on the Z. PS. Do you still have to drop the engine to replace an M-series alternator? |
OP the BMW is terrific. If you picked a 2011 Z you would still have plenty of money to make even more out of it.
Good luck no matter what you decided. |

You are definitely going to be playing with fire err.... money with the BMW. I would pick the brand new Z with a warranty.

M3 all the way. Once you go M3 its hard to go back trust.

I think, big assumption here, the 'amazing German' engineering does its special work on the turbo engines. Probably why they switched out the v8 in favor of snails

I had baaad experience modding a 135i Turbo ed engine, heard bearing clearance problems on v8's. Stock they can hold, but modding will make it fall apart.

bmw has great engineering, never driven a 6mt m series before but the other manual transmission cars i've driven the bmw 6mt is much better than the z's. Also keep in mind the gas will be more expensive on the m3 than the Z, maybe insurance as well, and like ppl have mentioned maintenance is pretty expensive on a bmw even if nothing brakes down, i would go with the z since i love the fact that it is not as common as a bmw and it has good performance

For that coin instead of used M3, I would say new BMW 4 series coupe.
|
I'd go with the m3... my friends owns one and it's way more fun to drive then my Z. someone mentioned gas, and we get about the same gas mileage.. he usually get 18mpg and i get about 20mpg with my Z. As far as maintenance, it isn't cheap. few months back he had a oil change and had to get break oil changed or something and it was almost $800, but keep in mind that he usually changes his oil once a year. Where as with me in the Z i change it every 2-3 months so in the end it's comes out to be the same thing. Also, he beats on his car every time he drives it and the car has yet to show any sign of breaking down. If i had the money i'd definitely go with the M3.

This is a tough one. I've always been a big fan of the M3's. I LOVE the look and sound of the car. I have heard many people say BMW like to fall apart when they get upwards of 50k miles. The maintenance/repairs will obviously be expensive..but as far as that goes I would say the repairs on the Z's aren't all that cheap either . My biggest issue here is you're deciding between a decently used car vs a brand new one. That M3 is gorgeous but I think I would have to go with the new Z. It's brand new=no one has driven it, zero miles, FULL warranty. I don't think I could justify spending 50k on a car that will be 4 years old and has 30k miles on it. :driving:

every M looks nice, i love the M5 or the x6 M :yum: :yum:

Dat M Mode!
I vote m3. |
Drive both and decide. Why did you ask the forum. You will get what you get - Useless mostly uninformed opinions from people like me who have never owned an M3.
I have a M235i but its not what you are asking about. I love my new BMW and my neighbor loves his new Mercedes. We all love new cars. What you do like or love is all that matters. Go drive it. |

Or, the OP is bored and wanted to star a flame war. Either way, I sat go with the BMW. The fewer Z owners, the better. They're clearly all insane. |

yah, get the bimmer.
and leave us Z folks alone. :icon17: |
Lol this reminds me of a Minsu thread where ppl asked him to go buy the camaro instead haha
