Also the run by Hotrod was on 17's drag radials. It isn't as simple as slapping a $500 mod and running high 11's like how you make it seem. |

the bottom line...
the 335i is a wonderful car, which is fast, quiet, and refined..
however, there was something primal about getting behind the wheel of a 370z, especially at night. starting with the illuminated door sill with the "z" emblazoned on it, and then the "fighter cockpit" setup, it screams to turn it on. the burble on start-up is nice, the swinging of the tach, and finally the power... i can imagine how speed racer felt driving the grx... the z feels powerful. the 335i feels safe. for a sportscar, i want powerful... |
Was just in a similiar boat, but was comparing the 370z to the 135i. I was completely torn, 50/50. I had a 300zx and then a 350z for a short time and loved both cars. I really was certain I was going to get a 370z but after driving both cars back to back, a couple times, I fell on the side of BMW.
I really wish I could have both cars. What tipped it for me was the torque and "feel" of the BMW, it drives really nicely, great 6MT. The Z has awesome handling, great acceleration and it really feels like a sports car. The tradeoff for me was that it was also a bit claustrophobic (terrible blind spots, but good side mirrors). You can't go wrong either way, both are going to be a blast to drive. Getting a used car, which is what I did, makes smart financial sense, but having a new car is a nice feeling, especially if it's a sports car, you know nobody has been thrashing it before you got it. Just pick whatever car you feel more comfortable in and enjoy the most, don't worry about appearances. |
That n54 engine is a beautiful engine. I would prefer it to the VQ37VHR in the 370z...except for that HPFP. It feels smoother and that torque is great for mpg and spirited driving. The VQ37VHR has almost a liter more though and after the warranty expires...I will get to pick what kind of FI to put on it :happydance:. 480whp on that 370z. I think I just fainted.
