Which would you rather?

I've posted on this forum before, and I am planning on purchasing a new car in the spring, but I am still debating on what that will be.

Interested to see what everyone's opinion would be on this topic.

If you live in a cold/snowy climate such as myself in Minnesota, would you rather drive a 370z during the summer and get a winter beater? or would you rather get an AWD/FWD car and call it a day?

I am thinking that if I do get the 370, I will want to find a relatively cheap winter beater, but something not so cheap that will cost me lots in repairs.

If I didn't get the 370, I am looking at Audi S5's. They are an AWD coupe that would be perfect for snow. I figure that between the repairs/cost of the Audi it would almost equal out for the cost of a low mileage Z and a winter beater.

Gahh.. such a hard decision. My gut keeps leaning towards the 370. Stupid Minnesota and it's winter :(. I should move! I just enjoy other aspects of the north too much to move hehe.

Anyway, any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

Such a tough choice

I live in Michigan and use my truck for anytime I don't want to/can't drive the Z.
Best of both worlds to me. I have not had too much trouble finding a winter vehicle that did not require repairs beyond small issues.

I mean the Z is great but at least in the Audi you can hoon year round.

It's funny because I was choosing between the same two cars. I have an SRT8 and and a Smartcar, gas guzzler and gas saver, but I wanted something in between that's was nice, pretty quick and wouldn't kill me at the pump. The S5 is a gorgeous car, but the maintenance is killer especially with the carbon build up so I chose the Nismo instead and couldn't be happier.

Carbon build up...is that a turbo issue?

Z and beater or STI year-round.

Shawa 10-15-2014 05:54 AM

Z. Cause on those spring and summer nights you're going to be happy as fack

Go for the Z. It actually handles erry well in snow if you slap some blizzak LM-60's on her.

I'd get an AWD car if I lived in a snowy climate. I don't even drive my Z when it's near freezing. I drive my 4WD Toyota PU and I live in the PNW.

If you go STI I'd wait for the mid-cycle refresh since there is a lot of speculation going on that this is when Subaru will give us STI version of the fa20 engine.
