Just seems like a waste of engine. Without the ability to shift when you choose, either manual or paddles, then the auto is never going to take you anywhere near the red line.

You don't need paddles to manually shift the automatic, you can still use the shift selector. You just move it over to the left and shift away.

everytime i get in my car its 1, 2, 3. start button, VDC off, manual mode. regular daily commute and normal driving i use the shifter select track/drag strip/back road or dragon driving - all get the paddles. i love the fact i have the option of either. its much more comfortable with the shift knob for just normal driving and has the old feel of a manual driving position and yes i find myself accidentally moving my left foot at times lol actually that is the only thing i dont like about the GTR is that its paddles only lol ![]()
