Well let's just say we are proud owners of our Z's and glad to poke a little fun at each other for the small differences with them. I do like answering the question everyone's asks me tho. "Why do you have an automatic in a sports car?" Technology has pretty much evened them out. I love the manuals as well but as I get older I have come to terms that it's easier and more fun to drive with automatic but I also realize that I have lost that feel of being one with the Z with the manual.

Jacking time!!!!
So if we thought the base was bad with no paddle shifters the c300 for 2014 (without the tech packages) does NOT come with an automatic garage door opener. Atleast the base Z has an automatic garage door opener STANDARD!!!! I mean come on... last time I checked M-B c-series were the entry level luxury... |

I am shocked that Nissan would do this to the 2015, I mean how much of a savings could it really be anyway?
I'm sure it's an easy modification considering that the other trim levels have the paddles |

i know im late to the game here, but im willing to bet they can be retrofitted easily. too bad i sold my spare paddles i had laying around!!
the G37 journey people add paddles relatively easily. i believe fontana nissan sells the entire kit with paddles for ~400. pretty simple DIY as well |

Nissan restructured the option range for the 370Z to do a couple things:
1) get the baseline price point the lowest they can get it for marketing. 2) make the NISMO version make more sense to buy for the enthusiast. 3) sell more sport packages If you notice, a sport touring combo is no longer available. If you want premium seating, you have to opt for the NISMO version and its Recaros. To make up a bit for the aging tech available in the car, they've completely eliminated the Bose radio with the 6 disc changer (notice there is a new base head unit, and the only upgrade is the tech package for any other trim and that includes full navigation), and the base radio is available with Bluetooth calling and USB input for media. (this also consolidates steering wheel options and reduces cost - now any non-NISMO Z uses the same steering wheel controls) finally - removing the paddles from a base 7AT is smart. there are buyers out there that would pay the premium for the sport package just to get the paddles. meanwhile, you offer an automatic version of the car for the very low $30k range for sports car buyers that might well buy a Z simply based on looks (like Roadster buyers, for example - they'll pay $50k for a Z vert instead of a Corvette Stingray) I personally think the base NISMO is very well priced in the Z range for what you get, especially when you compare it to the 2009 option range. Think about it - Sport + Touring drivers are all over this forum. If any of us were to buy a similarly equipped 2015 Z, the obvious choice is the NISMO. It's the same price as what a 2013 sport touring sold for, and only slightly more than a 2014 sport touring after the price drop. I think the way the 370Z is optioned for 2015 is better than it has ever been.

The stick is fine for manual up and down shifts...
Or because it is faster than the M/T and much more easy going in traffic, whereas the OEM shifter and clutch on the M/T is notoriously not great and the CSC is prone to failure.

QUOTE] The only problem is that while the performance of the NISMO is slightly better, it looks ugly with all of that stupid boy racer add on body parts. The only thing they could do to make it worse would be some fake CF contact paper glued on and fart cans. If the next gen Z doesn't address some of the easier to solve complaints of the 370, it will be a different marque for me when I buy my next car. And while I will be over 60 years old at that time, I'll never buy an old man's car dammit ! |
