What's weird is that it lists paddle shifters with the 7AT as a whole transmission package -- I don't see a listing for a 7AT without them ![]()

I didn't use the paddles that much when I had my Z, so they are not that big of a deal to me. But it seems odd that Nissan would drop them. The differentiate-from-more-expensive-models theory proposed above is the only thing the makes any sense to me ... but it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Typical Nissan. They load up early model years but in the later model years they cheap out on features. The base model 97-98 240sx didn't even have a remote trunk release

My 13 Z is a base with the paddles. I use them at the drag strip mostly and occasionally on the street to let the other car know I am ready to accelerate. I will leave it at that.
15 with no paddles? Odd. I bet you still get that crappy radio that is shared with all other nissan base models.

Funny you mention the crappy radio, actually the base 7AT I saw without the paddles had a new base stereo head unit with standard Bluetooth and extra phone buttons on the steering wheel. You can see that clearly in the picture above this post. Apparently Bluetooth > Paddle Shifters...

^The 2015s come with something there... Whether it's a light... Not sure based on pics I see online.
The 2015 base wheels are the same as before except much darker. I like them

I think the blip on 7AT downshift is more about protecting the tranny and not a performance feature. YMMV

i beat the piss out of those paddles when on the dragon and it works just like any manual gearbox when downshifting into turns and using it for tranny braking. i love the 7AT in the Z.

^^Oh yeah.
Having the paddles is so much fun, I almost forget about my 350z 6speed manual. Knowing the 2015 base, doesn't have paddles, I would not buy that model. |
