I like the way the new c7 looks. It's definitely a sexy car but I'd turbocharge the Z and blow right by it.
Only other car I would consider at the moment would be an STI because so many obv. reasons. |
Corvettes have never been appealing to me. Definitely wins the bang for the buck performance factor though. The new c7 really caught my eye when I first saw it, but they are popping up everywhere lately in my area. By next year it'll be around every corner like the c6. That's not a bad thing but I think that makes it feel less 'special'. It's all preference. I personally have no desire to own one.

hahaha got mine in 2012 at 23, going to be a while before it's payed off though lol :/

Turbocharging your Z won't be enough to blow by the C7.

Thought about a new Nismo but after really looking at what it had to offer for the $ with really no advance in performance I ordered my first ever Corvette 2015 Z51 pkg. The C7 is simply amazing to look at and drive. The interior looks like it should be in a high end European super car. The new 8 speed auto shifts amazingly fast ( milliseconds) 0-60 in 3.7 sec. Top speed 180+. Heading to Bowling Green for museum delivery when ready. Hopefully in 1 month. Loved my 370z back in 09 but this car is whole new level of performance. I will post up some pics when she arrives.

Depends....I test drove the Stingray at Road America and absolutely fell in love with it! so.........Since I get a decent GM discount through work on the new Stingray. I just need the base without all the heavy junk. MSRP for me is $49K.
Great deal right? Went on forums and the Sting Ray has/had 21 recalls. ;) Yeah most are minor but with that many recalls, this means unreliable. Passed and keeping the Z. |

hopefully the 2015's will be much better. the AT is already miles ahead of the 2014 one. |
also i'm finding Z51 3LT 2014s with low miles cheap now. like 67K and under.

I was very interested in this car, but the way I want it configured would cost me over $60k out the door (basically the cost of my last two cars). I just can't justify spending that kind of money for a car that I may be driving back and forth to the dealer often. I believe GM will work out most of the kinks in their halo car, but it will take them a couple more years to do so. I know the C7 is a much faster and nicer interior car, but to date my Z has 10k miles on the odometer in 26 months of ownership. Absolutely 0 trips to the dealer. Prior to that, 60k miles and 8+ years of owning a G35 Coupe, only 2 recalls. Brake pads and rotor replaced for free after 15k miles, due to grabby brakes. And greasing of the door locks due to it being sticky. So for $60k+ & 21 recalls, I'll also wait on the C7. |

One good thing about GM though, at least they acknowledge issues and recall them... so far every engine failure thread I've seen, GM has fixed under warranty... even if the engine blew up on the track. Look at all the issues we have, CSC failures, paint defects, oil burning issues, and lets not forget how long it took Nissan to do a recall on the steering locks. |
I've been keeping an eye on this particular thread- ** C7 Reported issues and resolutions thread ** - Corvette Forum
But there isn't anything that would scare me away from buying one. |
I find it hilarious that 370z owners who are turboed think their car is somehow better because it can keep up with a stock c7 or barely pass one. The corvette is another league of performance. Hell even a new 5.0 mustang is a better platform for performance. I've driven the fast intentions twin turbo kit by the way and from my opinion and a few others the 350z/g35 is a better turbo option for putting power down properly.

MJB, You're a braver man than I.
For me, 102 pages of issues and paying $60k plus, is not something I'm willing to do. As mentioned in my post, I believe GM will work out most of the kinks in due time. Until then I plan on keeping my $60k invested and possibly purchase the C7 in the year 2016. |

Just be happy our bail out money for GM that we the tax payers paid to have the wonderful corvette. I still have a bad taste with that fact on buying anything especially at that price range from a company that about went belly up. GM has to step up for recalls because they have to.

Buy an older 09 or 2010+ gtr.

Corvette is very unreliable compared to Z. But you get a 190mph supercar at a premium car price. It's a trade-off.

I would get the new Alfa 4c out of both of these cars...the more I see videos on the 4c the more I fall in love, that car is sex on 4 wheels truly a poor mans Ferrari so tempting.

Reading this stuff makes me wonder how many of you have actually driven all or even most of the cars being thrown around.
These threads are pointless, every car has its ups and its downs and its own distinct style. |

so either it's not that far ahead of me or the guy driving it has a wide set vagina. all i know is at the one light the downshift with the straight pipes made him almost jump out of his little convertible :bowrofl: saw pure terror in that man's eyes. it was great. |

I'll go with "wide set vagina" for sure. The C7 is a 12.4 sec car if not faster depending on tranny, options, etc. With your mods you are at 12.8 at best. Even if he got a bad launch he should still pull easily. Love our Z's but it takes no less than FI to give a C7 a run |

that and a large set of testicles. i have both of above attributes :nutswinger: |
