Default "I Can't drive 55"

I just can't drive this car slow, it just does not want to go slow at all. I get in this car and I just want to rev it out and hit the twisties.

I have owned some nice running and nice handling cars in the past but this Z for some reason is just one of the most fun cars to drive and it's so easy to drive fast. I need help

Default Even During Break-in...

I'm right there with you. I'm still in the break-in period and following all the rules, but I won't be slightly surprised the first time I get pulled over. I've never driven a manual with a such a strong top gear before...it just goes.

I find it strange that the owners manual break-in recommendation states not to go over 55 mph (as most owners' manuals do). Isn't break in more about engine RPM? At 55 mph in 5th or 6th gear you would be well under the 4000 rpm max recommended in the manual anyways. Anyone know why the vehicle speed might be important? I've always followed the RPM and other guidelines but see no issue going 65 - 75 mph during break in as long as I don't hold the engine speed constant too long as many do during freeway cruising. I don't want to start another break-in debate but never understood the 55mph rule as long as you're not cruising for a long time.

There is no mention of 55MPH in the break in period, here is the quote:

During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km),
follow these recommendations to ob-
tain maximum engine performance and
ensure the future reliability and econo-
my of your new vehicle.
Failure to follow these recommenda-
tions may result in shortened engine
life and reduced engine performance.
. Avoid driving for long periods at constant
speed, either fast or slow. Do not run the
engine over 4,000 rpm.
. Do not accelerate at full throttle in any gear.
. Avoid quick starts.
. Avoid hard braking as much as possible.

Good catch- I was wrong on this one but most manuals do state that.

How long would "long periods" be?

I never bought a NEW car, so I am afraid when i get home, driving to and fro' will be detrimental.

To me, 370Z is one of the easiest 300+ hp cars to drive at normal speed. In fact even 350Z was much harder to keep at speed. Any pressure on the pedal would take you all the way to 80+ if you don't keep adjusting back and forth. I can keep 370Z going at almost any speed without even looking at the speedometer.

I am having the same issue down here in Houston. We are having some wonderfully cold weather and its the first time I have driven my car in anything below 85° weather and it loves it! Makes me miss my turbo however man turbos love this cool dense air!

I hit 120 just running through each of the 'gears' in the 7AT. I slowed way down after that as I was approaching a subdivision enterance and didn't want to risk anything more (than what I already did - lol)

That happended to me on the way to work this morning entering the on ramp onto I-35. I was feeling froggy so I put it in manual mode and ran it through the gears once I got to fourth and the tach was up there I looked at the speedo and low and behold I was at 120 mph Kinda freaked me out because I had no idea I was going that fast and the car was so stable.

Might have to do that again tomorrow.
