Lag is all about the equipment you use and how it's tuned. Factory FI cars have little to no lag and very nice torque curves. The M4, for example, peak torque comes early on around 2k and stays pretty flat throughout the rev band.

And yes, the interior/build quality played into it, but he said it was just the overall driving experience. I asked him specifically about the engine, how it was going from a giant blown v8 to a TT I6, and he said that the only thing he missed about it was the instant low end torque vs the BMW having to spool up a bit. Just his opinion though. I don't own either so I can't comment on it.
bimmer's are tuned that way... i know the 335 peaks around 3k rpm with majority coming in between 2-2.5 range. the car idled in low 1k range. In all honesty I did not notice any 'lag' in the get-go but if shifting around 3k rpm it would feel like a long shift/power response compared to shifting at say 3.5 or 4k...

If they follow the new coupe Q60 route then, ""The new Q60 is going to be a big pivot point for the brand," de Nysschen admits. Meanwhile, a new V-6 family is under development to replace the coarse old unit that's done sterling service in dozens of Nissan and Infiniti models over the years. It'll be smoother, lighter, more refined, more efficient, "and there's plenty of headroom for turbocharging," adds de Nysschen.

This is actually great news, the vq37 without being boosted it very linear and coarse. It doesn't sound like a sport car either you have to spend $1500 on a cat back just to make it sound proper. Still doesn't sound as good as that g35 purr.

Nissan / infiniti desperately need a better v6 for mpg, also turbo 4 options from mercedes

Sorry, a lot of the things you're posting and the phrasing brought him to mind. Never mind.

As far as I know, the Z35 will have a few engine options and broad price range. Z is going semi-global.

Then why was the most recent article interview with nakumara saying they don't even know if there will be a next gen Z. If there is they really have to do some research to make it an idx z type car which they haven't even confirmed or started developing yet.

Basically there is no next gen z confirmed , nissan knows they can't sell as many as frs and mustang and they admitted they need better mpg. I smell a brz competitor in like 2018 lol it's 2014 right now. Sucks because I'm in the market for a 35$,000 or under sporty car. If I wasn't saving for house I would get an m228i now.
