well, this is good news in that it will save me a lot of money by not wanting to upgrade for the new one, bad news for Z enthusiasts though...

4.0L 8000RPM V8. I've been waiting for someone to make one besides BMW and Audi.
You can't tell me that wouldn't sound awesome and be fun, especially in a light car. |

Well if the new GTR does have a hybrid system and push 700HP, there will be a huge gap between the Z and GTR. they can put something like a v8 in the Z and not worry about encroaching on GTR sales. But i feel that Nissan wants the Z to be more approachable to a wider audience so they wont do something cool or out of the ordinary.

Why the alarm? A 4-cyl turbo Z = 240SX, Silvia, browntop SR20DET ;) It would be "cheapy-Z." When the Z32 debuted in N America, it was Nissan's halo car. All the JDM fanboys clamored for the Skyline GT-R because it was only available in Japan, Australia, England, and some other countries...They got their wish via the R35. R35 blows away prior gen "Skylines" in performance.
I expect the next Z to be 'watered down.' Nissan is gunning for sales i.e. numbers, not exclusivity. They already stated that they're not that happy with Z34 sales numbers overall. They want to whore out cars, not make them "low production, high priced" ones. |
Browntop?

Domestic car makers, seem to me, want to perpetuate "nostalgia or tradition" by offering V8s with direct injection and "cylinder shutoff." I guess they find going hybrid "too sissy and green." The V8 rumble is too macho to give up. But with time, as fossil fuels become more scarce and thereby expensive, they too will lean on this technology. |

Sounds like they have no idea if they will even make a new z car. If they make anything it will be 2019 or 2020. By that time hopefully you guys can afford a better car. Ill keep saving for corvette , m3 or porshe

It's the price lowering on the 14's that maybe cost me $4k but this really doesn't bother me as I had no control over this. Also for $33k, a brand new 13 Sport Z picked up in Aug 2012 has been worth every penny. :driving: |
