Im thinking they will throw the merc benz motor in to cut costs of r&d on a new engine for a car that doesnt sell well.

It may be one engine choice but my gueas ia the vq is done in the Z.

Its time to bring a new motor in. The Z needs to be turbo'd.
A v6 turbo should be the choice. And this single turbo setup wouldnt even compare to the GTR so there is no cross in products.
Keep the weight down to 3000 or less.

depends on the turbo. 26psi on one can do the same HP as a bigger one doing only 15psi.

my wrx 2.5L on the stock turbo (38lbs/min) did 22-23psi tapering down to 15psi at redline because it was so small. it made 335hp 396tq aw. that AMG is only really doing 300whp. thats a wrx at stage 2 boost (down pipe, CBE and CAI) which can last a life time at 18psi tapering down to 13-14psi.

Did something change I thought the 3.0L turbo from Mercedes was confirmed from more than one source.

Exactly this is what will most likely happen. I havent seen a confirmed by nissan aa they will release the concept before engine specs.

So the new Z will most likely be a merc benz in Nissan clothing. .. to me thats the end of the Z.

Im actually already leaning towards Toyota with the new supra anyway but its too bad the new Z may self destruct.

Idk if it will be a Benz in Nissan clothing. Only the motor will be Mercedes. Maybe the transmission too. Im also willing to bet that the motor won't just be all Mercedes. Im sure Nissan will tinker with the intake, head design, and stuff like that to better suit the Z. Who knows though.
