What I love about my Z
So far this is a love affair - 2+ years of ownership. I thought I'd try to list the things I really like about my car.
A little history first - my Dad owned a 1973 240Z at a very opportune time as I had just gotten my drivers license - it was pretty cool riding in that car and even cooler getting to drive it in High School. My Dad now has alzheimers and doesn't even remember that car, but I think of him every time I see the car and drive it. 1. The lines of the car - I can't keep my eyes off her when I walk out of my building at work and see her in the parking lot. This car crouches waiting to go fast. Do you remember doodling in English class - drawing all those sleek sports cars, and trying to draw round wheels? 2. The feel when I sit down - it really takes me back to the 70's and Dad's 240. Love the "cockpit" feel with the shift right there at hand. 3. The way the car seems to dig in when you get on it in 2nd, and then again in third. 4. The sound of the throttle blip as I downshift coming up to a corner or getting off the freeway - sounds especially great through my Stillen CBE. 5. The black cherry color is something I've wanted on a car for awhile now - love the pearl sparkle when up close and how it changes colors in the sun. Anybody else? Let's keep this positive - there's lots to love about this car. |
The fact that in 3 hours on the road I saw 20 Vettes, 45 Mustangs, 40 Camaros, 20 Challengers, 10 911s...
...and one Z. WHO DIDN'T WAVE BACK, BY THE WAY. |
Fun car to drive. Every time. My other vehicle is a GMC Sierra. The Z makes it seem very....truck-like.
Black Cherry...? My last Z was Black Cherry. Beautiful color when polished. Bug splatters and rock chips detracted more than they would on other colors, I think. My current Z is Pearl White. That color is really growing on me. It definitely requires less maintenance. It tolerates less maintenance better than the BC. |

I bought my ZR in 2011, but I still love looking at her

nice baboon avatar :icon17:
|
I love how people just look at it when passing by and they do a double-take.
I also love how the rear end looks like. Love how other "sports cars" try to be next to you and then kinda cruise at the same speed you are cruising to take another look at your Z. |
:tiphat:
^^^all of the above! :happydance:

You either 'get it' or you don't. :D

Dat @ss! Especially on the Nismo.:excited:
|
that every time I get behind the wheel of the Z it puts me in a great mood, in a way therapeutic :driving:
|
I love the lines of the Z. Especially the bulging fenders on the rear. It looks muscular and athletic. I also like that the line of the rear hatch is higher than the hood line. I've always liked cars with that kind of profile. Of course I love the way it drives on rails and love the exhaust note of my Berk exhaust. And I like the way it digs and pulls through 2,3, & 4th gears. I love it!

editions. These Dodge owners were fixated with my Nismo... One asked me about the Nismo in your face wing. I told the chap it's meant to keep the sports car down at high speed. What a weekend....The Only Nismo at the car show.... |
What did ya'll say. I was daydreaming I was driving my Nismo. Oh well, back to my dream.
|
I got a Stillen CBE a few years ago and it sounds better now, than when I installed it, by miles.
I just went through a couple twisties and it felt so good The love affair never ends. |
Everytime I got in and hit the start button, the simle that would come across my face was priceless. Even though I had issues over all I loved the car, especailly down in the SoCal canyons and the Northern AZ roads. It was definately fun to drive.

lines, size, power, handling, and not being perfect brings character.

Not perfect? What do you mean not perfect? Sure it has problems with stock brakes, the CSC wants to die prematurely, but hey ... um .... ok, character. So, of those of you where the CSC has failed, have you been able to successfully flat shift it home? That would be something else I would love about the Z. |

i dont foresee my csc nor brakes failing anytime soon. and im already 5yrs into ownership. will keep this car another 5-6yrs. |

That's my plan as well. 10-15 years seems like a good run. I'll truly be an old fart by then. I am going to put better brake fluid in though. |

I'm with you on the 10 - 15 year plan.... :hello: |
Others have covered most everything already. Out of everything about the car, I think I like the experience of starting it the most... it even cranks the engine like it means it. The gauge sweep is a great touch too.

Oh, and I like how quick the wipers wipe the glass.
|
And pushing the buttons on the doors unlock the car... but wait... there's more... they [edit] lock the doors as well.
|
Actually, I do kinda like the window action when you open the door.
|
I like the way it looks like it's moving, even when it's sitting still. The first thing I noticed about the Z (the first time I noticed one), hehe.
|
Our Z is one of the few aesthetically attractive cars out there at any price. My favorite profile is the side view.
|
I love how it looks from behind. I love that the stick shift is right there perfectly placed.
|
I love the little Z emblems on the side flash up when you lock/open your car
|
I love how even after 2.5 yrs of ownership it still gives me smiles and joy every time i drive it/ look at it.
