I know someone who asked a girl out and they went to a meet. She went poof.

My neighbors usually make comments about all the boxes on my door step. The way our houses are staggered in the cul de sac, their kitchen window overlooks my front porch! lol

My wife usually gets bummed when she can't go to meets with me. She owns a business and usually gets stuck working. I guess we are strange! :ugh2:

Elan 05-30-2014 02:12 PM

She still thinks the wing is specifically designed for flight! :p

gbrettin 05-30-2014 02:41 PM

My wife doesn't care what I do to my car and she really doesn't care what I have put into it, it's not her thing. She is VERY understanding and that's due to the fact we are not planning on having kids.

Tigger 05-30-2014 02:47 PM

Ex-gf had it out on the autox track. She loved driving it and wasn't scared to push it. A rare one indeed. Maybe now I'll get stuck with a normal chick? ut-oh.

b15 05-30-2014 04:36 PM

Not well, but I like it that way. My wife definitely noticed the exhaust and she noticed I lowered it. Then I put on spacers and she asked if I got new wheels :icon17:

Same here. Kids are in the picture for 2015 though...

All My wife knows that it's my side chick. No questions. :)

I race my car and my wife is sort of like a "Team Owner". She expects it to cost money, but she expects me to get something for the money I spend. It's not uncommon for her to ask me how much time I expect to shave off of an average run for a given expenditure.

When I first started autocrossing my Base model 350, I had about $1k burning a hole in my pocket and decided I wanted to order an exhaust. She asked how much time the exhaust would shave off of my runs. I was only expecting 5-10hp max so I guessed the difference would be a tenth of a second...maybe two tenths. We were only dating at the time but she stopped me in my tracks when she asked how much time a LSD would shave...Well, THAT would probably knock a whole second off an average run compared to the open diff my Base came with. The Quaife LSD was my first mod.

Now, almost a decade later, she is my wife and I still have not bought an exhaust. Lol.

Years ago I had a moustache and one morning decided to shave it off. My wife (now ex- for other reasons) asked me if I had gotten a haircut. She knew there was something different but couldn't figure out what it was. It was the next day before she figured it out.

You did not use your moustache to its fullest potential my friend. And that is all.

Update: wifey notice alert

Went out to dinner with friends in our sedan and when we got back home, I opened the garage and there was my Z sitting tight. I looked at her and noticed she was looking at the Z's a$$.

She blurts out "I don't like that black frame, you should take that off. What's AeroJacket anyway?" I was cracking up deep inside. I love her so much. I'll break the news at some point.

BeemaaZ 05-31-2014 06:39 AM

Lol. I have to agree with her

So true. Look at what I have listed as mods which took about 14 months to acquire. The wifey still thinks "it came that way from the dealer"!

mhill0425 06-01-2014 07:20 PM

HEK 06-01-2014 07:32 PM

Well, I'm taking the car to paperboy for the headlight mod today. Blacked out, dual halos, sti clear lenses, and white shrouds. I don't think she'll notice at first but who knows.

Solomatrix 07-18-2014 07:50 AM

no gf/spouse here but i've sat in the garage to stare at my car and fap

Debiandog 07-18-2014 07:51 AM

OMG I am sitting around nervous today. My wife is NOT a "car person" and I just got the Z a few days ago. This morning she had my key fob in her hand and asked "how does this thing work?"

I was like, "Um.... why? Are you driving it to work?" (I work from home)

She said, "yes I want to see why wanted this car so much".

(can't think of a good excuse for her not to take it)

So I said, "well let me turn it around and get the seat jacked up so you can see"

As she left she smiled menacingly and said, "I'll TRY not to wreak it"

She rolled to the end of the driveway and while I stood there sweating. WIDE OPEN THROTTLE FIRST GEAR ALL THE WAY TO REDLINE!!! I hear the motor wind back down and wait for the crash sound. But nothing...

So I go inside and call her, "Did you figure out how to take it out of manual?" :rofl2:

She said "Yep, I got it" as I hear the car screaming down the road in the background.

I have the Z for 2 years now and she has not ridden it since.

Does that tells you how much she loves my car?
Whats with wives having issues with cars!

I wish I have Hucks wife! Ahhh I mean somebody like her who love for her man's car!:ugh2:

Now you know why she is happy you did not get the Cayman otherwise she would be worried you might end up with a mistress!

Lol, I know how you feel, I used to be the same way but now I just let her do her thing. Only thing i stay on top of her for is parking too close to the entrance at the grocery store and shopping malls where all the 300 pounders get out and slam their door into the car.

No she was certainly not on-board with the Cayman plan no matter how many times I explained why it was so expensive. She was o.k. with my ~$25k used Z :happydance:

kenchan 07-18-2014 09:39 AM

cayman rides like a frikken stiff car from the 90's imo... this day and age, it's all about smooth and fast.

PASM give both options err actually 3 options Normal, Sport, Comfort ;)

aszyd 07-18-2014 10:10 AM

My wife knows that my car is loud and low, and she hates both of those things. She did compliment it's looks once though, so I'm counting that as a win. She's definitely not a car person though. A story that I like to tell is, one of my previous vehicles was a silver, 99 Accord sedan. We were out to eat one day and she had to go back to my car to get something, so I just handed her my keys. She comes back several minutes later complaining about how she had a difficult time finding my car. When we leave, I ask her which car she thought was mine and she points at a silver Cadillac Deville. I just shook my head...

The only cars that she is good at recognizing are Mustangs. She really likes those. Of course, when I showed up with a 2004 Cobra, she was not very pleased.

I've learned to just not explain the car mods to her. She just does not get it.

loled' @ SPASM's...

MacCool 07-18-2014 10:25 AM

My wife of 30+ years wouldn't be able to pick my car out of a crowded parking lot. She knows it's white. That's about it. OTOH, she has a dressage horse that cost more than my Z. I wouldn't be able to pick that horse out of a pasture of 10 horses, so....we all have our interests.
