Even after door switch shaving, window still catches weatherstrip upon opening.

I worked for BMW years ago and if my memory serves me correctly, I thought the "window down blip while opening the door" activated within the door handle pull itself.

Default Even after door switch shaving, window still catches weatherstrip upon opening.

I worked for BMW years ago and if my memory serves me correctly, I thought the "window down blip while opening the door" activated within the door handle pull itself. On the Zs it's activated with the door switch itself as you may know. Well mine catches and makes it uncomfortable to open the door, as I purposely delay opening it too much to let the window roll down first.

I shaved the plastic rod in the door pin switch down to the minimum that I could possibly do to no avail. It still catches. My buddy has an 08 G37 and he noticed immediately when I first showed him my car. The he shows me his G and it rolls down prolly twice as far as my Z with no catch.

Is this a bad design that I have to live with? Feels awful.

Try the window reset procedure...

Lower it and hold the button for 4-5 seconds after it is completely lowered. Then do the same thing raising the window.

Just checked mine out. No issues even trying to open the door pretty quick. Haven't ever had this feature in any other car, so I've got no comparisons. If the reset procedure doesn't do anything, can you take it to your dealer?

I know holding up always resets the auto up/down feature, but didn't know this is the reset method for that. Is it?

If the window reset doesn't help, you'll need to take apart the door and adjust window height manually. I had this issue when my door was replaced.

Now that brings back personal memories, I believe the earlier e36 coupes had it on door handle and then later they changed it or it could have been the other way around. My 97 e36 was in the door handle, soon as you lifted the door handle the glass dropped.

I also created a thread earlier about my driver door glass staying up , its as if the door micro switch is sticking .
