Probably your age. No one tries to race me. Even if they did I wouldn't notice because I have the radio up, the top down and don't make eye contact with anyone next to me.
|
same here, i have yet had anyone try to egg me into a race

Dont get me wrong, the Z was great, just wasnt what I wanted any longer at this point in my life. |
I don't really get egged to race but its more the SUV and minivans trying to "bully". They'll tailgate me, cut me off, speed past me. Quite comical really because I just mind my own business.
Always fun when they cut me off to getting into the off/on ramp, then have to slam their brakes on the turn. |
Not about people trying to race me, but...
Several months back I had to go to a funeral in Miss. My sister & BiL also went & took their C6. Almost all of the drive through Ala. was interstate & while we were not flying, we were maintaining a speed where no one was passing us. We get to Miss. & keeping the same speed, I swear cattle trucks & yugos were flying by us. We were being passed by everything on the road. Already going at a speed that was "bruising" the speed limit pretty bad, we just watched as Caterpillar Road Grading Equipment left us in their dust. |
People really don't mess with me that much. I can only think of three occurrences and of course, I don't give in cause well I'm more mature than that. I have nothing to prove. If you threw $5k into a 1989 Civic and could kick my @ss, good for you!
1. F-250 kept gassing and braking next to me. Just trying to get me to race. I just maintained my speed and ignored him. Eventually he stopped. 2. Some redneck in a POS Ranger called my car slow at a light. I just laughed and said "Oh yeah? Is it?" 3. Some high school kid in a red 350 would not stop revving at me from across the street. Like in a crowded city, this kid was just revving and staring at me. It was embarrassing. He passed me revving and staring and I just laughed. People... |
I get the occasional wave but no invitations to race. But I don't really look for that kind of stuff, so maybe it's happening and I just don't notice.
If someone is trying to goad me into a race, they are wasting their time. I have a pretty good idea of what the car can do and don't need to prove it anyone. And it wouldn't bother me a bit if I had the slowest car in town - the Z is plenty fast for me. :driving: |
Rofl. Great read for Friday morning. After following me a while a Toyota something passed me on the interstate this morning going down hill. I was on cruise at 75. I then had to pass him no more than 15 sec later b/c I was now on his *** due to him slowing down. I just don't get ppl. Maybe he likes to save his brakes.
I get the occasional slow driver until they see me coming up behind them and then they gun it to stay ahead of me. Fine by me b/c I know where I'm going and I just want to get there. No competition anxiety ever. I'm fine with drafting. |
I get sick of all the effing mustangs and camaros that act like their car is one-of-a-kind when really I see six of the exact same car every day in traffic. I see another 370 maybe a handful of times a month. As far as racing, I will not back down even to a Buick. I dusted a Lotus Alize the other day, but last night a corvette waxed me. JUST KEEP MODDING!!

I mostly get people asking about the car and how much it was while driving. Not much to do when you're stuck in traffic going 5mph.

I just find it offensive when I'm minding my own business, going 5mph or 10mph over the speed limit, look in my rear view mirror and people are tailgating or trying to act like speed racers pretty much almost everyday. Theres probably only a few days where theres no BS.
Your alls stories are helping me out to mature a little bit. Thanks :driving: |

A quick brake check can work wonders but can also be dangerous. See http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ml#post2812256 |
I agree OP, it does get annoying from time to time. With the good, there also usually comes the bad. I love when I get shouted compliments, waves, thumbs up, etc..but I hate all the other attention. People gathering around your car in parking lots, cars trying to race, vehicles riding my a**. Just because I drive a sports car there seem to be people that think I should be go much faster than the speed limit :shakes head:.
This is all part of owning a car like the Z, though. |
